I really want to recommend this hostel for everyone because it is located close to Metro and Red Light District. In addition, it takes only 10 min walk from the AMS central train station. However, it was unlucky for me because that day the Internet connection was broken down and I had to wait until the other day to go to another Cafe

Well, it´s a good hostel. The locker could be inside the room, for sure. The toilets could be a little bit more clean, but it's ok. Location is awesome. It's everything you can expect from a hostel. Otherwise, stay at a hotel.

Es seguro y céntrico pero el ambiente es muy raro, si no están interesados en vivir una suerte de "retiro espiritual" este no es el lugar indicado.

Totally, this is a good hostel.Cleaning of room and bathroom was not so good, for me this level is acceptable. They sometimes have bible study,it was not forced to the guest,so it was not aproblem. No alcohl policy strictry regurated, it was not aproblem for me,for people like a alcohl might be a problem.

Great location, safe and very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was small, but included in the price. I stayed in a 16 bed room and it wasn\'t bad at all. The only downside was that beds were too closed to one another. You can meet new people in the restaurant, play the piano or the guitar or read. I\'ll definitely stay there again!

Atmosphere did not work for us since we came to Amsterdam to party. Stayed one night. Location is ok.

All in all the hostel is a so and so place to stay. The location is great! However the staff is working on a low level and really really really slow. It took us over half an hour to check in (without waiting in line!) and some members are really unfriendly and did not make us feel welcome. But the facilities are nice and the hostel is clean.

For the price of the hostel stay, the 16-bed room didn't have sufficient space, it was too hot and humid, the lockers were all situated by the door, there was nowhere to set things on next to the beds, the shared bathrooms were of poorer communal dorm quality, the computers were very slow, and the maps cost money (and were overpriced). However, all of these problems seem to stem from the fact that it was just too overcrowded. At least the breakfast was great!

Even though I arrived in the middle of the night, the reception staff was SO warm and welcoming. I thought the building was beautiful (I stayed in a first floor female dorm) and clean. The breakfast was delicious. I had muesli with yogurt, but there was also a complementary hot breakfast of eggs and toast. I was very impressed. If I visit Amsterdam again, I would stay there again. Thank you!

The location of this hostel was very close to central station and the red light district (ironic for a Christian hostel), with the Niewmarkt castle as a convenient landmark to find the hostel again. The staff was friendly and helpful, although a little slow at times to check people in and out. I found this hostel a little expensive for a basic dorm.

The Shelter City Hostel is in the city centre which is nice. BUT someone stole 400 euro from me there. The security is extremely low there. They don't have cameras in rooms with four beds and the manager didn't do anything after we called him/her and told them about the robbery. I should be more wise next time and never leave cash in the room. But I thought it would be safe if I put it in the locker wich proved wrong. I warn everyone who is booking a bed at this hostel, please be careful!

Hello, I spent only 1 night at teh hostels but was very satisfied! The location was more then perfect, eventhough a hostel itself is very simple and not very comfortable for someone who expects 4 starts hotel, For me it was Ok considering a low price I paid and would come back for sure. Regards Marta

I got a 6-bed room, for cheap price, but I was the only one in the room (I stayed Monday 16th March to Friday). Nice room, with good sized locker right outside. Staff are friendly and good humored, and breakfast was OK. 80-odd Euros for 4 nights, in a nice clean room, pretty quiet too, and close to all you would need. Albert Heijn supermerket is just a short walk too, and I got some great food very cheap. Only microwaved food at the hotel after 5pm -! I made my own food! :-)

The inbuilt shower had a kind of aircoditionig system . It made an irritating humming noise. This couldnot be drowned by earplugs!! The shower itself was good, plenty of hot water available. The roommates were not really polite. I had to comment on cell phoning in the middle of the night!! It can't be helped all the time but sprending the message about decent manners can't do any harm!! May be breakfast could have some more variation.More fruit along with other breakfasts besides the muesli
