This hostel was in a great location - about 3 min walk from the main ghats but so quiet and apart. The host was incredibly friendly and made sure to take care of all of the guests. Each evening the hostel has a family dinner and it was not only delicious but was a great place to meet other travelers. The doors are locked each night at 10pm, which makes it very secure. The hostel was located by a lively street with many shops and near the main market. Great stay!!

Good location yet the directions to the hostel nonexistent. Decent price range, but a lot of guesthouses in Varanasi are in the same price range. Disappointing repeated tries by the staff to overcharge: reserved a dorm bed on Hostelworld, but staff proposed a double room (obviously at 2x the price). Asked about a tuktuk ride to train station and received a quote double the street price (non-negotiated street price!).

Ok guesthouse although he tried to give us a different room on arrival. However he did give us a different room after we asked and gave us discount for giving us a smaller room. Staff are friendly and the place is clean. Right by the main ghat so is super handy. Don't expect to meet other backpackers but this is similar with most Indian guesthouses. Worth a go.

Hard to find if you arrive at night. Great pancakes and chai masala. Good roof top views and great local sounds, haha! It's just off a bustling shop street but the smaller streets are quieter and have some nice food around the area* desert in particular.

Great staff that make you feel part of the family. They are all very welcoming and helpful. Location is perfect close to munshi ghat and market area on the other side.

Charming guesthouse in the old part of Varanasi. Perfect location, close to everything. Safe, clean. Run by a lovely family, very helpful. They also offer great indian food for dinner for a low fare. Try it. Beautiful roof top terrace. All in all for me Shiva guesthouse was an relaxing oasis in vibrant Varansi.

Best hotel during our time in India. Location is perfect. The sharing dinners they put on every night are the perfect way to meet other travelers. I would happily come back

It was a good stay at Shiva Guest house. It was next to the most popular Dashashwamedh ghat on Ganga. The staff was nice and cooperating. It provides laundry and massage service also.

Your food is absolutely amazing.

Staying at Shivas guesthouse was perfect I felt like being at home, the dinner is amazing, the terrace the location and Shiva and his brother are so helpful

We had an amazing stay at Shivas guest house in Varanasi. The rooms were lovely and clean and Shiva was very helpful with our many questions including help with trains and shopping for silk and pashmina. The communal dinners on the roof were great and we met many lovely travellers, including one who treated us to some rooftop yoga. can't wait to come back one day.

Great location. Staff very helpful and friendly not pushy at all. No lock on door but staff always around downstairs and a locked cupboard in room. Felt safe. Stayed longer than first booked. Would recommend 😊 great roof top views of river and town.

could not be more helpful ,gave us hot drink on arrival which we dearly needed. choice of rooms , which was clean, quiet and cool with powerful large fan. 1 min from ghat, central to all " main" ghats. good busy area market and tourist type and local eateries. (excellent coffee place 2 mins away) lovely friendly non pushy owners . when we checked out, let us leave luggage and rest there in the reception area till needed to catch late train. good and fair deal on sunrise boat trip. perfect

Charming hotel with an unbeatable location at the banks of the Ganges. The feel of a home stay, with the owner's family living on the ground floor who were usually very nice and helpful. The location is near the main ghat, and despite being initially hard to find, provides an authentic Varanasi experience with all its sights, smells, and sounds (light sleepers beware). The internet was entirely unusable for the duration of our stay; laundry took a frustrating 48 hours without notice.

This is a great hostel in the old city of Varanasi. It is small and charming! The owners are great, and gave us a better rom than we booked because there was some electrical problem in the other room. Recommended!

Good clean hostel wt great roof top view. Awesome location right in the old city, close to good restaurants.
