Such a great time! The staff was really lovely, especially the Activities Coordinator, Joe. The beachfront was very relaxing, and you could take a kayak out any time. Free breakfasts were simple and sufficient, but we ended up buying breakfast at the cafe to satisfy a bacon and egg craving. The free wifi was a bit slow, but that enabled us to really relax on our holiday.

Nice enough hostel. Has everything you need on premises. Was good value for money and close to airport. On the beach too with plenty of activities.
Overall, I was relatively pleased with my stay at Smugglers Cove.
Fantastic! It's three Fijan dollars more expensive per night in the dorm than others in the area but it is so much nicer, and you get a free breakfast (you couldn't buy breakfast for 3fjd!) so it is much better value. Staff are friendly and the area is great. We stayed in the 34 bed dorm and it is all blocked off into groups of four so you really don't feel like it's that big. Very close to airport and excellent transport links around the island.
Beautiful room, the bed was very sturdy and comfortable. Locker was provided for valuables. There is free Wi-Fi in the lobby and restaurant by you have to pay extra if you want it in the room. The key deposit was $50 FJD which I thought was very high but I assume part of that goes towards the towel and blanket hire.
The bathroom was very dirty. Too many cockroaches. Drinks were very expensive as well.

Got there early with the free shuttle but sat around for five hours with check in not until 2. Somewhere to put bags though. Don't exchange money here! I got $400 FJD for $200 USD at the airport, and $370 FJD here for the same amount. Not cool. Free breakfast is toast, fruit, and hot or cold cereal, have to pay for all other meals since there's no kitchen. Nice back patio though and quite friendly staff. Would stay here again but not for nearly as long. More of a hotel than hostel feel.
We had a really great stay at Smugglers. Lovely hostel/resort setup right on the beach. Its close to town with buses leaving from outside the resort. Staff, especially at the travel desk, were very helpful with the booking of day trips, activities, car bookings and general queries. Room was always clean and tidy. Will definitely consider going there again.
Cockroach infested bathrooms, barely any channels on TV, rude staff and completely unhelpful in their transport arrangements and the spa even gave me false prices so that I made an extra 30FJD. Everything was awful from start to end.
We loved it here! A great place to meet fellow travellers of all ages. Staff are friendly and the free activities are a great way to meet people. Joe definitely makes Smugglers, he has a head of Fijian knowledge which he is happy to share, should you take the time to learn from his free activity classes. We definitely made a life long friend with Joe, he made our time in Fiji, one of the best times of our lives!! Go to smugglers!!
The atmosphere for a solo traveler is pretty lacking. But the hotel itself is really nice
They charge 38 fjd if you book a dormbed at the reception and only half if you book over hostelworld. So if you want to extend your stay book it here. And be sure to make it early since it seams like you can't onlinebook with them in the afternoon on the day of arrival. Alternativ hostel is bamboo which is less resorty, has more backpackers but no breckfast so i'd go with smugglars
This hostel is great with a nice restaurant a bit over priced but good food. Right on the beach and with a pool. Free breakfast was only toast or cerial could have done with an egg or something. But all in all nice place to stay, and good value for money.
This was the second time that we stayed during our week in Fiji. The first time we really liked it but the second time the cleanliness of the bathrooms really let the side down. The floors were digusting and looked like they hadnt been mopped in weeks. The showers were clogged with mud and sand it was a pretty horrible experience having to use the showers in that state. However away from the bathrooms I only have positive remarks: the staff are lovely and food is great. would stay again.
Scored low because of 2 reasons. First, the bathroom in the female dorm was disgustingly dirty - everyone agreed it was especially bad. Second, as I was checking out, the male receptionist made me feel a little uncomfortable by trying to start a conversation about how I shouldn't travel alone, that I should have come with a boyfriend and how he thought I was probably good looking enough to get one. Not necessary at 5.30am before a long haul flight - not the biggest deal in the world, but still.
Beautiful Hostel, beautiful beach front and cool amusement , the staff is really nice and helpfull
Beautiful hostel (feels more like a resort) and very clean!

Staff were quite rude, and I felt targeted because I was young. I am 20 but look much younger. When my friends and I were joined at our table by more mature people the waiting and managing staff's manner changed completely.
I had such a good stay. The staff were awesome! Sitiven went above and beyond in customer service and made my stay so much nicer. Generally the staff were awesome. Cleanliness in girls toilets in the 16 bed dorm could of been better. Thanks for everything!
