Solo traveller here. Very happy with my stay at Smugglers, from having booked for 3 nights I ended up extending my stay to a full week and was there over xmas and new years. The staff is extremely helpful, you can just tell them 'I'd like to visit the mud pools' or 'I'd like to go horse riding' and they help you out with booking it. It is not your typical hostel as it is also a hotel, so if you are looking for a place full of solo travellers hanging out in the evenings it is not quite like that.

Stayed in a private room with own bathroom. The room was nice and mostly very clean. Aircon wasn't working at first but the staff came to fix it and also fixed the fridge when it was so cold that all our food kept freezing inside. Facilities were good and clean. The travel desk person helped us a lot when reserving a trip to the Yasawas. Atmosphere was not good. There was only one member of the staff that was not grumpy all the time! The waiters even yelled at us for no reason.

This was a nice enough place to stay. Good location on the beach and good bar atmosphere at night. The dorms were not the cleanest a few cockroaches. I had read previous reviews about bedbugs but couldn’t find any traces when we were there fortunately.
