We loved our stay at Tanaka-ya! The location is perfect and the owner was so friendly. The place is spotless clean. Thank you very much for making our stay in kyoto pleasant :)

This location is perfect, very accessible to attractions and within walking distance from many good shops and places to eat. However, the shower at this place is just terrible. It turns off every 10 seconds (even when you follow the instructions on the wall) and the temperature control does not work at all, making the water scalding hot at all times.

The owner lady is magnificent, she is there for you whenever a need is appearing. She thinks for everything and the place is very well with big rooms.

This place was great! Great location to see real geishas as they head in and out of tea houses only one street over from Tanaka-ya.

X This was the best place for me to stay in Kyoto close to Goin area.Experience real Japanese living in this spotless home.Heated throughout for winter with the elderly owner making you feel special with welcome treats of fruit and nuts and strawberries with nice bottle of sake for the second night. If I was to live in Kyoto I would stay here and call her Mum! Thanks for the wonderful memory . Eamonn

We were greeted by a very nice lady. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was very clean even we had to share with other people. The heater was enough to cover us from the coldness 😊 oh the people who's next door to us were really friendly too. Highly recommended!
