One of the nicest hostels Ive stayed in. Room 21 is awesome :) really clean and comfy place. Staff are cool, bar is cheap, bed is comfy! Definitely stay there next time we go Taupo

Thanks to all the staff at the base in taupo when my booking got messed up and they happily obligued me with a great dorm great bar it is unfortuate that it is too near the dorms and that the music does not finish until 3am perhaps it would be fairer to stop the music at 1am apart from that I would happily reccomend this hostel

I can only comment on the night that we stayed in the hostel. We were getting up really early the next morning to do some activities, but unfortunately this is not the right place to stay for a good sleep. There was a party in a room 2 doors down from us, which culminated in the window being smashed in and loud noise also trying to clean it up. Terrible nights sleep. One or two quick noise checks at night from staff would not go a miss. Keep the parties in the bar. Great facilities and location.

Great little hostel. Activities and things organised most nights but everything closes down around 10pm so people getting up early for the Tangariro crossing can still get a good sleep. Early risers were a little noisy in the morning, would be nice if they had the same consideration for people not getting up for the hike. The younger staff were fabulous! Super nice and accommodating. The older lady was a bit grumpier than she needed to be, but maybe it was just an early morning for her.

really great atmosphere, i like how the kitchen and eating/drinking area are all open, it means you can see everything thats going on and chat to lots of people easily, it's how I made friends and had one of the best nights out in New Zealand so far :)

This was a great place to stay. Great location, value for money and much better than the larger hostels in the area - you at least got a good nights sleep - ver comfortable and great character.

The staff were exceptional and although writing this review up some weeks after i actually stayed there, i had the best Christmas ever! Everyone who works there did themselves proud and have a really social experience to all!

A fantastic hostel. Small and cosy and all the staff super-friendly. The free internet a day and the cheap bar make this place even more special. If I'm ever back in town, I know this is where I'd stay.

Security : Mix up in room keys was a big boo-boo. This was quickly rectified though. However, the location, the cosy environment and the central kitchen layout was very well thought out. Would come back again when visiting Taupo :)

Good hostel, clean rooms, relatively clean bathrooms. Live music and a good area to hang out. Cheapest bar in town, and a good, inexpensive, easy dinner.

Plate of chili+rice for $5 NZD...Free Wifi but only on public computers that tend to be slow/unresponsive and close at 10pm. However, excellent character and overall was clean and friendly. Would stay here again.
