1 Because they have a licensed bar you can't drink your alcool at the hostel. 2 Internet is not free. 3 washing machine 3$, dryer 2$; you need 2 cycles to get your clothes dry. I think they try to do too much money and your back, which is a shame.

The room smelt, there were hardly any showers and toilets!!

Super friendly staff. Computer could do with updating couldn't access hotmail or Skype

Fantastic location and tons of great people to hike Tongariro or go to the thermal Springs with! Rooms were fine, bunk beds were a little unsteady, but comfortable. Like other reviews said, blonde hairs everywhere...weird. Bathrooms were fine, not dirty, but also not really clean. Hot showers and great water pressure, though! Kitchen was big and easy to use, although all kitchenware seemed like it had been cleaned by the same dirty towel. Free Internet use on desktops. Overall, worth it for me!

When we arrived the poor girl at the front desk was the only member of staff on duty and although she dealt with everyone as fast and efficiently as she could - it was very apparent she was under a lot of pressure! Well done lady you were very helpful!

Hostel was leaking from the roof, but the beds were fine and staff was friendly.

Beware this is a nomads hostel and therefore the rooms are rather dirty and smell. This is more due to the clientele attracted by this type of party hostel. I was in the 6 bed mixed ensuite, I don't think it was with the extra money as the bathroom wasn't very nice and was located beside the front door resulting in being woken by the crowds leaving for the crossing in the morning, or people smoking and chatting outside.

Great hostel, great place, great staff. Everything was great.

Good location

great location, friendly staff, nice pub inside - beds not clean!

Typical hostel in which is very likely to meet new people and socialize. The bar at the entrance serves really cheap alcohol and the living room could become a dancefloor if you are there in the week-end!! The position is excellent and staff were friendly and helpful.

pretty nice place

Not bad but reception closes a bit early so be warned if planning on a late arrival. Staff resolved a mix up with room allication and quickly put us in a much cleaner, empty 6 bed dorm at short notice.

The front desk staff were so helpful! They had great suggestions for activities to do, as well as places to eat.

The 4 beds room is very small with not enough space to store everyone's staff. No curtains on the window and a bit noisy. No WiFi, 3 computers are available at the reception for all the guests. Few showers available whit no instant hot water. The hostel is well located but all the services are to be paid (including the bike rentals). Good deals available for purchasing food and drinks.

very nice hostel, clean, nice kitchen. my room had no curtains so it wasnt dark at all, might be a problem for a light sleeper (not me!)

Staff were really nice and helpful, plus you can get a bar meal and a beer for $8 not too shabby.. Plus cheap beers in the hostel bar! The dorm I had was slighty on the small side giving not a lot of room for bags but hey I didn't spend that much time in the dorm.

Enjoyed my stay!

Rooms very cramped. Power strip with plenty of plugs. Nice, huge lockers under bunk beds. Bathrooms coed- never had to wait for shower- great water pressure. Bedsheets covered in long hair. No free wifi. Great location in center of Taupo. Plenty of fridge space. Clean kitchen and bathrooms. Great communal area with large picnic tables. Good sound proof doors between lounge and dorms. Additional fee for using foreign credit card on check in. Great help with bookings- Katie was fabulous!
