About

An auberge translates as an inn and ours is situated in a 1875 warehouse, which we restored and rejuvenated. The basic attributes and rich textures of the old city building: the rock walls, the old hardwood floors, the arched windows and high ceilings.

The Auberge Alternative is an budget boutique hostel. The art of travelling moves us through internal as well as external landscapes and often a creative urge demands to link the two. The Auberge Alternative is an eco-friendly and artsy hostel providing accommodation and resources to travellers and artists alike to join us in redefining bohemia. Welcome to the Alternative.

Please note that we are on three levels, with no elevator.

I have no idea how this place is so highly rated. I got no sleep as the room was BOILING, stuffy and stinky, NO air conditioner that works, although it was advertised that there is air conditioner. The fans do not even blow any wind. the bedsheets are all black so they attract all the heat. showers are on a different floor, and tiny and mouldy. The floor mats were not frequently changed and there is nowhere to put your things while you shower. Even paid extra for a “better” room.

Very conveniently located with great vibes. My only extremely minor complaint was that sometimes you had to enter the door code on the front door a couple times before it actually unlocked, but otherwise everything was great.
