Nice kitchen/common room. Toilets and showers were decent and clean as they get in a hostel. it was nice having storage areas under the bunk for our bags so they can be locked up. only wood so not 100% secure but better than nothin. the breakfast for $5 was a bit of a rip for what you actually get. toast, coffee, cereal. internet was really fast and secure if using wifi. otherwise, only one or two computers you had to pay for to use. overall, not a bad place to stay

The common room and kitchen are great, the rooms (dorms) are horrible. Not enough bathrooms.

I was travelling around Canada when I reached Montreal and found the hostel on the internet. What a nice experience this was. I am in my mid fifties but I enjoyed the company of the young people and I have recommended my daughter to travel to Montreal and stay at the Alternative Auberge - she would love your place as well as her mother did. Thank you so much for all your help and kindness. Malene from Denmark

Really great location, very helpful staff. We had a great stay! I took a look at the books provided on eating and drinking locations- it'd be nice if you noted some of the cheaper restaurants/bars within short walking distance on the map in the hall.
