Hello, I am Marina. An italian girl, living in London. Returning from a Holiday in Italy, in January - this new year- 2013, while I am still between places, trying to relocate to a new flat..I decided to stay for a while at " Monkeys.." I had already been to this hostel last year, and I had the opportunity to get to know it for the first time! I had lovely stay. All standards are quite satisfactory!! And even this year, No great disappointments. Except some "assholes" among guests!! It happens

I liked the hostel and i liked the pub downstairs. Unfortunately some people in my room were not nice. They keep leaving luggage everywhere. Other people in the hostel were very nice. Staff were really nice as well .

If i had to have stayed here more than one night I would have changed hostels. The 9-bed dorm I stayed in was cramped and filthy--the most disgusting part being the amount of mold on the walls...a definite health violation. The beds were awful. It felt as though I was sleeping on a pile of cotton with some springs jabbing into my back. No toilet on the second floor was a pain in the ass. Girls bathrooms were average. When i needed to check out no staff member could be found. Unorganized.

The staff was quite nice however the boss was not. The room was very small ( we had no space to put our things, humid towels and we were 9 in the room!) and very humid! It was extremely cold in the room! it was freezing! the radiator was on only during the night. There was mould on the wall!! But we met kind people there and the pub downstairs was very nice!! 2 men entered the hostel one night, he entered our room and stole one of the girl's mobile phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your review. Those two man you've mentioned getting into the hostel has been let inside by a group of french guests staying with us. Unfortunately it doesn't matter how good the security is if your fellow travelers won't keep the basics right.

The experience was REALLY GOOD. we enjoy our stay in the hostel! the ONLY problem I checked was that there were mold in the wood of my bed..I forgot to tell them..!and it is a pity because is easy to clean..I think... and is a detail a bit important...not for people that live 3 or.4 days.. perhaps..but yes for the reputation of the hostel.. thinking that.the atmosphere, the staff, the security, the facilities, etc were excellent:....and for the people which stay is much more longer...I think..

Location was hard to find. Kitchen too small & unclean. Stagnant water on shower room floor on top floor. My pillow was hollow very poor quality. Someone slept on my bed when I was out. Someone slept on the floor in the room at night, the person was noisy, although not aggresive. The good point are: staff is friendly & good looking, breakfast is satisfying.

This place was great. The beds weren't the most comfortable thing in the world, but the people I met and the staff truly made my stay and my trip to Europe that much more amazing. Hats off to the guys working the bar, they're great.

This is a wonderful place to stay if you are looking for a reasonably priced good time. The kitchen, dorms and common room are all pretty cramped is but the bar downstairs is cosy and comfortable. It's a little out of the way.but there is a nice atmosphere.

I was looking for an in-expensive place to stay in London, but clean and comfortable also. I found all that at "The Monkeys In The Trees". It is very warm and cosy. Not too loud at night so you can get a good nights sleep. The location is great, bus stops on your door step, and the train station, 2 of them, very close by. Plenty to see and do, lots of restaurants, shops, markets, all in walking distance. I would definitely stay there again.

Home away from home!!! I have stayed here numerous times in the last few months. The staff are welcoming and happy to help. If you are looking for somewhere quiet to stay at a good price and close to transport this is the place for you!!!
