I stayed here for about two weeks while I was apartment-hunting. It might be ok for what it is (a cheap temporary place to crash when you don't have anything else), but I would not recommend it to anyone visiting New York on vacation or business, despite its amazing location. You may get fresh sheets and towels every day, but they're questionably clean. "Shared bathroom" includes sharing with large cockroaches. Overall it's akin to staying in a poorly maintained college dorm.

It seems too expensive for me the price per night. I thought it would be better because of the amount of money I was paying for.

There was a giant cockroach in the first room I was put in. I asked for a change and in the second had to kill the three little ones I saw. I know this is a difficult problem in an old building in the city, but I think they need to step up their spraying regimen. This is my only complaint. The rest was just great for the money.

Brilliant location, great value for money, very clean and awesome coffee shop down stairs. Rooms small but do the job for 2 singer travelers. Beds were a bit squeaky and toilets were regularly blocked but otherwise awesome place to stay.

It is nice to get a private room for that price, but the facilities are quite rundown, including the mattress of the bed.

I couldn't use WiFi in my room, and I was able to use WiFi in only 1st floor. There were trouble in restroom on 9th floor, I couldn't use 2 toilets.

This is the second time I've stayed at the West Side YMCA. this time I brought along my mom and sisters. We had a very comfortable stay and were well taken care of.

If you just want a bed and a place to leave your things than this is the place to stay, but dont expect more than that, it is not a place to meet people its just a room, very small room

Pretty good value for money, but lots of real olds dudes around. Pretty weird

Had a nice bright room overlooking Central park. Good TV! Very quiet! Enjoyed myself !Good sized closet,nice sized desk ! Bathrooms not great so I always workout then shower etc. In locker room! Great gym!

NO SPACE for CLOTH in the BATHROOM!! I couldn't use Wi-Fi for 3 nights!

The stay was great. The facility was good for the those travelling on a budget. I stayed with my family and my teenage girls felt safe and free to roam to the internet room and cafe on their own. The. location is amazing walking distance to many if not most tourist locations. Central park directly across the street for some fresh air and a relaxing walk. I would definitely recommend this Hostel as it was recommended to me. Cafe, 63 BITEs had good food at a good price.

Showers, rooms, corridors need urgently to be renovated.

The best way to spend a week in NYC with a family of 6, without spending a huge amount of money !!! Staff is cool ! Beds are OK, bathrooms as clean as possible. Doors are too noisy, they are banging all night (put a shock absorber on each door, please !)

The rooms were clean but the personnel was rude (most of them) location is excellent but no signs to identify the hostel! it took me 2 hours to get there because the directions are a bit confusing.
