i hated staying there. It was dirty and noisy. The rooms need desperate repair. The bathrooms very not clean.

I suggest to remove the floor carpet from the ailes. The floor carpets are dificult to clean. I was in the 9th floor and I found the floor carpet with many stains. The photos in the website do not correspond to the real room. In the photo the room seems more modern that it was.

The staff don't do anything for you. They're only concerned about questioning if you belong there when returning in the middle of the night, making you feel like you're a freeloader instead of a guest. Noone on this hostel smiles or speaks to you in a friendly manner. Also this hostel may look nice on the outside and in the foyer, but I would never want to spend another night in those depressing rooms again. Mine even had a large hole in the window!!!!!

Excellent location and great price for NYC (VERY near Central Park; ~100m to the subway; 15 min walk to Times Square). Like some other people noted, the mattresses are bad--like sleeping in a hammock. It's an old building and the bathrooms reflect that--3 showers, 3 sinks, 3 toilets, 3 urinals for the guys (+similar? girl's bathroom too, but girls has entry code) per floor. Bathrooms a bit dirty. Rooms pretty clean. Housekeeping doesn't understand "do not disturb." Get a clean towel daily!

Excellent location, friendly staff, accomodation is a bit outdated but clean. Temperature in toilet/ shower area is extremely hot, heater should be lowere for both comfort es environmental reasonsd.

Although, I only made the reservations for Robert and Odette, they told me that they were very satisfied with the West Side YMCA and would definitely stay there again.

I decided to join my friends last minute on their trip to NY. They were staying nearby and this place was the best option (price and location) close to them (only 6 blocks). The neighborhood was excellent, very safe and pretty. I feel the rooms are expensive for what they deliver (single room). My friends stayed together in a B&B and dividing the cost they got a better deal (nice tv and bed, in-suite wc, breakfast, free internet). But overall it was an OK, clean and safe place to stay!

Is a very good place to stay in NYC if you´re in a limited budget or not willing to pay that much for just a bed and a shower. The location is really good, two blocks away from the Columbus Circle metro station. The bathroom is ok but I think it could be a little bit more cleaner. It is not a place to party, it is just like a regular hotel but with small bedrooms, shared bathrooms and a store where you can get a sandwich or some breakfast (not included). All in all, good value for your money.

Had some problems with the security guy at night. This very rude fellow confiscated my passport, just because I arrived after my friend whom had already done the check in, and since he had no instructions, he decided it would be better to keep my passport with him, so he could RETURN us the key (since he confiscated the key also). This all happend despite the fact that the reservation was under my name. Very disapointed because that kind of ruined my halloween.

Not very happy for close to $80-100 a night, tiny bathroom cubicles, often filled with toilet paper and not ventilated - was like a sauna. Shower curtains don't cover the whole doorway in public bathroom. Bedroom clean though and wasn't too squishy. Staff often abrupt with answering questions. Definitely not one of the best places I have been.

I have travelled extensively throughout the world (2.5 million miles, on pleasure) and can say that the bed I had at the YMCA was the worst I have experienced.

Overall, the one night I spent there was good. The women's bathroom is secured, which I liked. however, they forget to inform women of the code so a few women end up going in to the men's bathroom. The room itself was very clean! It was quite small but for one night it really did not matter. The only thing that bothered me was at 8:30AM housekeeping came knocking on the door and had an attitude that I had not checked out yet even tho I had 'til 11:30AM to be out. But pretty easy stay for a night

Its my first time stay in a hotsel. The location is good. Very close to centre park. We had lunch in the pArk and enjoyed the perfect view of the morning sight. Also it's eAsy to go to times square place. You can walk(15mins) or take a metro. But the hostel was not very clean. Esp. the bed things. And the stuff there are pretty cold. If you go with another people and need a private room, I suggest you bid 4 star hotels on princeline.
