Staff are hopeless! But we did get a twin room in the middle of manhattan for under $50 a night which we found very hard to find Rooms feel like prision.

What I did not like was the fact that I was given a room on a floor that was being refurbished and I had to go to other floors to use the bathroom.

Although very basic it had everything we needed within walking distance to a lot of places. However, it would be good if internet could be accessed in more places, in rooms would be best, but we were on the 10th floor so it was a long way to pop down to check something. Also a couple more showers would be good, I only had to wait once but I was there out of season, I can't imagine what it is like in the summer.

Very dirty rooms (I tried 2 different). Bad beds, with bum mattress and torn blankets. No heating in the rooms, humid walls with old and spoiled paint. Broken toilets and malodorous. The worst hostel for a high price. I intended to stay for eight days, but stayed only for one night. I have booked many hostels in various countries on several continents and this is certainly the worst. It should not be on the hostelword site. It is difficult to get accommodation in NY, but this hostel is a trap.

The common bathroom doors close with a bang even if you try to close them softly. This banging at all hours is a real nuisance.

You really don't want to spend time at this hostel, only sleep and go. Corridors in plain yellow and bathrooms equal to the dirty ones in a sports arena. Staff in reception didn't give us a single welcome but seemed bored. Overall the information about rules and facility was poor.

Excellent location! Next to Central Park and Columbus Circle, in walking distance to Times Square. Bathrooms were clean and also the rooms. They have wifi but only in the lobby :(

Generally very good - lovely staff and felt secure; the 'atmosphere' rated as average only because of the room itself which was sufficient but the rest of the hostel had a good, friendly atmosphere. We had a tv in our room that didn't work - we weren't there to watch tv and didn't have time to, but it was quite a big piece of redundant furniture invading the already small space within the room. We also had a problem with the light which was on a sensor and kept turning itself on.

I was put in a room on a floor that was being renovated, and had a bed bug infestation (both myself and my immediate neighbor were moved), and then subsequently placed in a room which was on a floor that wasn't being renovated! It felt like you were placed in a bad room then if you complained you were put somewhere better.

Great location and use of the gym is excellent. Just next to Central Park. Rooms are small and basic, could use remodelling. Bathrooms could be cleaned more regularly. Overall a good place to stay on a budget.

I have stayed in many hostels all over the world at all different prices. This was by far the worst. We are 2 young girls so chose a private room. Our door didnt shut unless you lifted it up to jam it shut. There were black hairs on a pillow The TV did not work We weren't advised the bathroom had a code so as we had to get redressed and head downstairs to ask for the code bathroom had 3 toilets only 1 lock worked. shower had no space for anything Terrible service. Do not recommend

Its a cheap stay for the location. Not really a hostel kind of feel though. Not going to find a bunch of travelers exchanging stories in a common room here. Would stay here again though. Its cheap and good enough for the location!

Overall very good experience but I did accidently leave my shampoo in the shower (shared by other rooms in the hallway) and it went missing.
