Gucumatz Lakeside Inn is the ideal place to unwind from the hustle and bustle, where guests can experience nature at its best. The facilities include 9 rooms, a guest kitchen, a games room with pool table and ping-pong table, bar and beach area on the shores of the majestic Lake Peten Itza.

The hotel is located in the municipality of San Jose, in the department of Peten, Guatemala. It is located on the shores of the cleanest waters of the lake and about 55 km from the archaeological site of Tikal and 30 km from the island of Flores.
Public bus service from the "La Tranca" terminal in Santa Elena runs until 6:00 PM, monday to Saturday, dropping passengers off right at the entrance to Gucumatz for 22 quetzales per person.
We are located just 1 km away from the village of San Pedro, where you can buy basic groceries.

Gucumatz organizes group tours to Tikal (round-trip transport for 135–150 quetzales per person and 100 quetzales per person for a guided tour (optional)).
Private pickups always available from the airport/Flores for 250 quetzales and from El Remate for 150 quetzales.

Gucumatz Lakeside Inn is now welcoming "long stay guests" at a very special price. For just 400 dollars per month (700 dollars for a couple) you can rent a very comfortable room with king bed, en-suite bathroom brightly decorated in typical Guatemalan style. All have lake views and are situated within a shady garden filled with tropical plants and humming birds.

Daily cleaning of your room (excepting Sundays) is included in the price and a guest kitchen is available for your use at all times.
For those who prefer not to cook we offer a delicious breakfast ( 6-8 dollars) and a house dinner (10 dollars). Let us know if you wish to book dinner for your arrival day. Cool drinks and beer are available all day.

Bathe in the transparent, warm lake water, read or relax in a hammock, visit Tikal and other famous ancient Mayan cities, take a walk around the colourful island of Flores, enjoy a local cookery class or study some Spanish, share your skills with a group of friendly villagers.
Just give yourself a treat and escape from the cold winter for one whole month.
