HI Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel

Excellent location with beautiful ocean views from the patio, dining room, and even the guest rooms. The rooms are clean, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. I stayed in the private three-bed room, which felt like a charming little cabin by the sea. My favorite part was sleeping with the window open, listening to the sound of the waves, and breathing in the fresh salt air—it was peaceful and restorative mid-week. Gorgeous sunsets and private beach are also huge pluses.

We had a lovely time. We like the small private beach. In the private room I like that the single bed can fold away. The large room with couches, pianos and puzzles helped compensate for the tiny room size. Fantastic view from our room window of the ocean! It would be great if the lighthouse could be painted, it looks rundown. Also, if there could possibly be a brief daily tour of and in the lighthouse that would be interesting. Another lighthouse had such tours. We enjoyed our visit.

I enjoyed one fantastic night at the HI Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel in Montara, California, as part of a mini vacay on the coast. The lighthouse is adorable, the grounds are worth exploring, and there is a little beach just a short walk away. The hostel is clean, bright, and cozy. Like many things along this part of the coast, it is weathered and dated, but, as many overnight guests agreed, it adds to the charm. Taya at the reception is super kind. Parking is a short hike, so pack light!
