The Barrel Hostel

I don't really understand the negative reviews ! I stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. The 12 person dorm is split across two rooms w/o a door in between, but has lockable lockers and plenty of space for bags. The beds are comfortable and the air conditioning amazing. Couldn't ask for a better location also. The atmosphere entirely depends on how many people are there, but it has lovely open spaces below: hammocks, tables, pool. The bathroom is also spacious and clean. Loved it!

Unfortunately the worst hostel I’ve stayed at. The dorm stunk of dogs, pillows covered in mould and ants in my friend’s bed. 12 people sharing one dirty bathroom. The location is good because its on the beach but no soft surface to sit on. The staff were not friendly or helpful. I don’t believe they invest any money back into the hostel and it is not a cheap stay…there are better places which are not on hostel world

Was all in all a good stay, vibe is just a little of somehow because the staff isn’t all that friendly. There are a lot of surfers there so if you’re keen on surfing it’s an okay place. Kitchen was sufficient if you need to get a meal in but it’s not all that clean. Leave the western standards at home and you will have a great stay
