Both dorms are air-conditioned. There are three shared toilets, two enclosed showers, and two outdoor showers. Even if you're staying elsewhere or can't find a room with us, you're more than welcome to join our daily activities.

We’re a social but not a party hostel, with an inclusive environment, a lively communal area, and an in-house café. If modern facilities are your top priority, you might want to give us a pass. But if you're after a friendly, community-driven atmosphere, welcome to Happy Hammocks!

Think of us as more than just a place to sleep — we’re your share house by the beach, where every guest becomes part of a close-knit community. Whether you're here to ride the famous Arugam Bay waves, soak up the tropical sun, or meet amazing people, we've got you covered.

We can also help with scooter rentals, surf lessons, taxis, safaris, and all kinds of tours at better prices than you'd typically find on your own. Just reach out to reception for the details.

We're perfectly situated just steps from the beach, the main town, and the highway bus drop-off point — the ideal base for surfers of all levels. New to surfing? No worries — we can arrange lessons and gear to get you in the water confidently.

Our hostel thrives on community. We’re rated highly for our friendly, welcoming vibe. We organize daily activities like beach volleyball, sunset sessions, paint & sip evenings, and ping pong tournaments. Our family dinners are legendary, and we're always up for pre-drinks on party nights.

Each bed comes with blackout curtains, international sockets, and reading lights. Our Wi-Fi is fast and free throughout the hostel to keep you connected.

🧼 Clean & Cozy
While we keep things as spotless as possible and recently added more outdoor showers, it’s our laid-back, social atmosphere that guests really return for — not just the amenities.

🌴 Chill Zones
Lounge in our hammocks, soak up the sun in a quiet corner, or join in on games and chats. Whether you're looking to unwind or dive into hostel life, we’ve got space for both.

🍳 Open Kitchen
Hungry and on a budget? Whip up a meal or cook with new friends. It's all about good food and even better company.

What Else?
We’re more than just a hostel — we care about our community. Join us for beach cleanups and local engagement activities. We’ve also got two friendly hostel dogs, Scooty and Scooby, always ready for a cuddle.

P.S. Arriving early? No worries. You’re welcome to nap in a hammock or chill in the common area until your room is ready. You can also use the shared toilets and showers before check-in.

- Check-in: 2:00 PM | Check-out: 11:00 AM
- Payment: Cash only upon arrival
- Cancellation Policy: Minimum 72 hours’ notice required
- No-show Policy: Full charge for the entire stay
- Reception Hours: 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM

- No smoking in rooms, kitchen, or washrooms (use designated outdoor areas)
- Youth Hostel Policy: Not suitable for children, elderly guests, or pets
- Towels: Provided at check-in at no charge
- Towel Deposit: LKR 500 (refundable)
- Air Conditioning: Available from 6:00 PM to 11:00 AM
- Beds: One guest per bed only — no sharing
- No outside guests allowed inside the dorms
- Assigned Beds: Please use only your assigned bed or a cleaning fee will be charged
- Group Policy: We are focused on solo travelers and do not accept groups larger than 2 — this is strictly enforced at check-in (please do not make multiple bookings to bypass this)
