Billabong Gardens is situated just 3kms from Central Station in cosmopolitan Newtown. With the longest retail shop in Sydney, Billabong Gardens is just metres to sensational restaurants, cheap eats, funky cafes and eclectic shops. `

We pride ourselves on running a top notch hostel, (we've been doing it for 30 years!). It is a warm and friendly 'home' which is quiet, (so you can get some sleep!) and yet seconds from the best nightlife in Sydney. Fantastic bars, live music venues, cheap restaurants, cinemas and a youthful community based around students, (Sydney University & the school for Dramatic Arts are just around the corner) are all nearby. There is also an eclectic mix of musicians and artists. All this makes Newtown the happening place to be.

Billabong Gardens is a 5-backpack hostel. That means you get the cleanest rooms with the best facilities. We also have amazing weekly rates to help you save even more. Don't forget when comparing prices all the free facilities that we have on-site features that you may have to pay for at other hostels.

All our dormitories have 4-6 beds, most with private bathroom, T.V. and ceiling fans. Full security accommodation with 24 hour access and your choice of single sex or mixed dorms is also at our hostel.

Newtown Backpackers en Sídney ofrece un ambiente vibrante y personal amable, convirtiéndolo en un centro social para viajeros. Upon arrival, the receptionist was yelling at one of the cleaning staff members. When we greeted her, she did not respond; I had to say hello twice before getting a reply, which felt very disrespectful and unprofessional. Regarding cleanliness, the rooms were dirty. We found cockroaches in the room, and there was rubbish under the beds. Overall, the experience was very disappointing and far below the standard we expected.

5 ⭐ – Not great The common area at Newtown Backpackers was really basic and not very inviting — definitely not a space to hang out or meet people. The rooms smelled weird and didn’t feel super clean or fresh. The only good thing is the location if you want to explore Newtown — lots of cool bars and cafés nearby. Best spot for drinks? Definitely Newtown Hotel 🍻 Wouldn’t stay again, but the neighborhood itself is worth visiting.
