Small hostel with a unique set up and laid back staff, we hope to provide a home away from home. We features accommodation with dorm room type to private rooms.

From the bus station, straight onto the main street (Walton Street) we are less than 5min away. Opposite the police station.

Cancellation policy: 48h before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.

The Cell Block Whangareissa tarjoaa ainutlaatuisen majoituksen entisen vankilateeman ansiosta. Vieraat kiittävät ystävällistä henkilökuntaa, erityisesti Fridayta, ja puhtaita tiloja. Keskeinen sijainti on ihanteellinen tutustumiseen. Jotkut mainitsevat kiinteistössä olevat kissat ja pienen keittiön.

The hostel itself was nice, and the manager was friendly, but the receptionist was extremely rude, aggressive, and unnecessarily a control freak. After checkout, I was briefly using the kitchen to prepare food and get water, but she refused to give me even a few minutes and demanded that I leave immediately. The situation escalated when she confronted me over swearing under my breath and threatened to report me. Stayed in a single private room. Lovely vibe, with amazing roof terrace and cute cats. I was worried it have an odd atmosphere as a former prison, but its fine, though not quite as slick as some more modern places to stay. I think there are quite a few long term residents, who are friendly but perhaps make it feel a little less social (for backpackers) than other hostels

It is a good value for money, but the 4 girl dorm room was quite worn out, the upper bed is so low that you hit your head when you are in the lower bunk. Prison vibe was cool. The kitchen smelled like spoiled food unfortunately.
