Small hostel with a unique set up and laid back staff, we hope to provide a home away from home. We features accommodation with dorm room type to private rooms.

From the bus station, straight onto the main street (Walton Street) we are less than 5min away. Opposite the police station.

Free cancellation until 2days (48h) before arrival.
Cancellation policy: 48h before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.
Check in from 13:00 to 19:00 .
Check out from 00:00 to 11:00 AM.

Cell Block has a fun, funky atmosphere and is surprisingly comfortable. Rooms are clean with cosy beds, and the bathrooms have excellent pressure and are well maintained. The shared kitchen is fully equipped, and the rooftop garden is a standout feature. With plenty of chill-out spaces and friendly staff, it’s a welcoming base for exploring the area’s beaches and waterfalls — and perfectly positioned as a mid-way stop to Cape Reinga.

Quirky hostel. Good value. Room had a nice feel (esp given it's a former jail cell). Lots of nooks and crannies to explore, and good common areas for people to connect. But definite highlight were the two friendly cats in the outdoor areas!! Would stay again just for them. Only minor issues I found were loud creaking doors and pipes, but wasn't too bad at night.
