HI Hyannis hostel is a great base for exploring Cape Cod. Directly overlooking Hyannis harbor, the hostel is 1km (0.6 mi) from the Hyannis transportation center, served by regional and local train and bus services, and a short walk from the commercial docks where regular ferries transport passengers to and from the islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Hostellers are just a short walk from the Kennedy Museum and Monument and the charming shops, cafes, and pubs of Main Street. Waterfront Veterans’ Memorial Park and peaceful Kalmus Beach are both just a 20-minute walk away.

This newly renovated, highly rated hostel has private rooms, 6-bed dorms, a fully equipped kitchen, indoor and outdoor common areas, grill, guitar, and small library. Bed linens, bath towels, Wi-Fi, parking, and morning coffee and tea included in the price.

The location is great and the hostel is safe and comfortable. They have added AC since my last stay which is great for the summer however it was quite chilly a couple of nights during my stay and it has to be left on full time. I found staff at check in extremely abrupt. Certainly not the friendly welcome I received in previous years. There was a different lady working the desk the second night and she was absolutely delightful but that was extent of my positive interactions with staff this year
