À propos

Hello and welcome,
We are Som & Som, the owners of The Yard. I built this hostel with one purpose: to connect people—because I believe real connections can make a difference.

In Thai, Yard means “family.” So when you stay here, you’re not just a guest—you’re part of our family.

Our prices might be a little higher than average, but that’s because we offer something rare: a huge green common area. In fact, our space-per-guest ratio is one of the largest you’ll find in this business. It’s a peaceful, open space where you can truly relax.

We keep things transparent—no hidden costs, no surprises:
• No credit card fees
• No deposit
• Towels & organic amenities included
• Breakfast, plus organic tea & coffee from local farmers included
• Travel assistance for your whole trip in Thailand included

Our team is more than staff—they’ll take care of you like family.

One thing that makes us different from your typical hostel is that we’re also deeply committed to reducing our environmental impact. When we designed the hostel, we thought carefully about every choice we made and its effect on the planet. For example:
• Every direct booking helps us donate 7% to an indigenous village in Northern Thailand to prevent forest burning.
• We don’t sell plastic water bottles – instead, we encourage guests to bring their own and refill them.
• Your bedsheets are made from overstock fabrics instead of newly produced materials.
• Breakfast is served as a set to reduce food waste, but you can always refill until you’re full.
• Our coffee beans come from Northern Thailand and are roasted the cafe called "Akha Ama" which is run for indigenous people.
• We source our milk from Chiang Mai to support local farmers and reduce carbon emissions.
• We make our own yogurt and jam to cut down on single-use plastic.
• Our shampoo and shower gel are natural and made in collaboration with local people.

Here, your stay supports not just your travels, but also people, communities, and the environment — all while making real human connections.

I hope The Yard can be part of your great memories in Thailand—and maybe, part of a growing world family. 🌱
