Hotel Il Mercante di Venezia

I would stay here again if I came back to Venice, the staff were super helpful and the location is perfect. It may look like its far from St. Mark’s Basilica and the touristy locations, but when you hit the ground in Venice and realize that you have to drag your suitcase up and down a million bridges with stairs, you will thank yourself that you booked at this location. There is only one bridge to pull your luggage over to get to this hostel/hotel. There is no laundry service, so come prepared.

When we booked this hotel we thought we would be making a lot of sacrifices to go with a more “budget option” but that is far from the truth. The service was very friendly, rooms were clean, and the best part: the breakfast! I did not have much expectations but was pleasantly surprised - croissants were the best we had in Italy. Pros- Free breakfast. Cons- Keys instead of keycard. Smallest room with bathroom separated.
