We were in a private room which was clean and comfortable with A/C. It is decorated nicely and the staff was friendly and helpful. Tasty free breakfast in the morning. It is a little further away from the other hostels and bars in the main area, but still pretty close. There is a lot of space in the lobby to hang out, but there weren't many people around when we were there, so I don't know how easy it would be to meet other people.

This hostel and its staff will always have a place in my heart. So friendly and welcoming -- even after years. I keep going back to Backpackers Garden because they're like family. While a lot of new guesthouses have popped up in Vientiane in recent years and Backpackers' facilities are starting to show their age, this is still the place to go to meet friends that challenge you to be the best person you can be. Plus they make a mean breakfast :)

Unfortunately not the best experience. Stuff was unpleasant and not very helpful. First of all none of my emails were answered. Second of all we received some confusing and misleading information from the lady at the reception.

Staff was kind but the rooms and bathrooms were disgusting. We found bed bugs, we had no privacy, there were several power outages and a water outage, and we had strange people trying to come into our room in the middle of the night. We did not feel safe or comfortable during our stay. Cheap but not worth it, pay an extra few dollars for a safer place

We booked a room of 2 and a room of four. The room of 2 was quite nice but the room of four was very very bad. There was no key to the door of the room and the bed sheets were not washed...

Worst hostel i’ve stayed in during my 2 months of backpacking and it wasn’t even the cheapest. Absolutely no security, door doesn’t lock and people kept walking in thinking it was their room. Tiny lockers that required your own padlock. No pillows on the bed, sheets were filthy and there were bedbugs. Ended up using my sleeping bag liner for the first time and slept with my travel neck pillow (not comfy!) Toilets were down a flight of stairs. Barely slept all night and moved hostel first thing.

Probably the worst hostel I’ve stayed at - it was like a prison! The small guy on reception was so unnecessarily rude, when I arrived and said I wanted to check in he looked at me as if I’d run over his cat. Beds were dirty, harder than stone and mosquitoes were in the room. There was no atmosphere whatsoever and it was just a damp, filthy place. Never again. P
