Property Description

CITAN is a seven-story hostel with its basement floor, located in Nihon-bashi area that has seen many journeys along the Five Routes “Gokaido” since Edo era.

Even in these modern days, it still offers you a great access to the multiple lines, necessary to fully enjoy the metropolitan life as well as the good old Shitamachi area in Tokyo.

Our hostel has its original coffee shop, Berth Coffee on the first floor, and the bar and dining restaurant on the basement floor.

Your journey will be promised with a lot of great people from all over the world as well as our fine drinks and food made with the warmest heart of our staff. View House Rules

CITAN Hostel is in a seven-storey building with views of Tokyo's awe-inspiring skyscrapers and an arty coffee shop on the ground floor. We're all about those city vibes: our basement bar and restaurant have an industrial New York warehouse feel, and we host DJ sets here on the weekends to get you dancing. Our guests tend to gather in the kitchen and library, where you can have a go at making sushi, learn some handy Japanese phrases using our free Wi-Fi, or just mingle with people from all over the world.

We're in the historic Nihonbashi business district, a couple of stops away from Tokyo Station (pretty much the centre of the city) on a JR train. This also makes getting here from Narita International Airport easy. Just take a subway from Terminal 2 to the Higashi-Nihombashi stop and walk the rest of the way – it's only 6 minutes. You can jump on line A from here to reach Asakusa Station in 4 minutes and visit sights like the atmospheric Sensō-ji temple.

Rooms and Dorms

Our private rooms and mixed or female-only dorms have shared bathrooms, and some of the private options come with their own washstand. We stock luxe organic toiletries from a local brand that you can use for free, so you can leave the bulky bottles at home. Linen is included too, so don't worry about packing a sleeping bag, and there are personal lockers to put your valuables in. Curtains around your bunk give you some privacy, and you can charge your phone with a handy bedside plug while you sleep.

Extras and activities

Sit back on our outdoor terrace with a hot drink from our tea and coffee facilities, or keep cool indoors under the air con. You'll find electrical outlets all over the common areas to keep your devices charged. With us you'll also have your own pair of slippers to pad about in – in comfy Japanese style, we take our shoes off as soon as we're inside.

Citan is near subway station and staff there are so friendly. Also there is DJ show on weekend. I would stay at Citan again if I visit Tokyo again.

CITAN had excellent vibes, friendly staff, great location and affordable accommodation. Very highly rated my stay, however, wished the common room was more private as it is connected to the public area.

This place was fantastic! The bathrooms were spotless, and there’s a nice coffee shop downstairs. The bar in the basement was super classy....easily the classiest I’ve seen in a hostel. There were actual real locals eating and drinking there hahaha. I would definitely stay here again if I’m in Tokyo.

Amazing place to stay! Staff were so friendly, and I met so many new people staying at the hostel. DJ nights were great but I wish there was some more organized events for guests. Walking distance away from at least two subway stations and great food all around!

Really liked this hostel. Has a bustling cafe and bar. The only downside is that there aren’t many foreigners - the bar especially seems to just be popular as a bar for the locals. Not a bad thing necessarily, but if you’re looking for a hostel full of travellers this isn’t the place. I still met some awesome people, and the staff are really friendly (and cool...I was intimidated by how cool the bar staff were haha). Super comfortable stay

    Very Good

Very trendy hostel with excellent coffee shop and bar attached. The coffee was amazing! The staff are very friendly and helpful and the facilities were always clean. There is no atmosphere for travellers though. I was travelling alone and was hoping to meet people and there is really no vibe for that. The bar seemed to be mostly for locals(not that there’s anything wrong with that). I would have liked some organised activities in the hostel for backpackers.
