Hostelworld says

Cats Hostel Madrid Sol has been described by Hostelworld guests as a lively party hostel, with a highly-praised Paella Party on weekends, plus a bar downstairs. Our visitors have recommended that guests 'definitely do the walking tour and tapas tour' to get to know Madrid. The hostel is centrally located, near La Latina, Puerta del Sol and the Prado Museum. We like their Andalucían riad-style courtyard, which many reviewers have called 'totally beautiful'.

Property Description

You’ll find us right in the center of Madrid, where all the cool stuff happens. We stand out from the rest: we have 15 years of experience in helping you vibe with our city. If you’re looking to discover the daily frenzy of Madrid’s wild side and people to enjoy it with, Cats Hostel Madrid Sol is your best choice.

From our door, you can easily reach the city’s most famous sites, like the beautiful Plaza Mayor, the lively Puerta del Sol, or the world-famous Prado museum. And after a long day of exploring, there’s nothing like arriving to our recently renovated and perfectly prepared facilities for a good rest.

We have a wide variety of common areas for relaxing and socializing with other travelers. You can lie down on our comfortable sofas, watch a movie in the Red Room, or try our own Cats craft beer in our bar... The building will leave you speechless. It was once a 17th-century Spanish palace and still retains its Andalusian patio style.

The rooms are comfortable, functional and prepared for 21st-century travelers, with personal lockers, reading lights, and power and USB outlets. You can choose between shared dormitories from 4 to 14 beds or book your own private room!

And what can we say about our activities? If we have to describe us in a few words, we would say we are a very social hostel. Our most popular activities are the city walking tour, tapas tour, and, of course, our famous pub crawl. Every night, we visit the best bars in the center for the perfect moment to meet other travelers and mix with the locals. But there's even more: depending on the season and the day, we will have karaoke nights, dance lessons, and a paella cooking show. The hard thing won’t be choosing what to do, but what not to do!

We offer a breakfast buffet for only € 5, and we have towels to rent for € 3. Free Wi-Fi is available in the entire hostel. On departure day, we have secure luggage storage where bags can be left for € 2 all day, while you get your last tastes of the city!

Our reception is open 24/7, and we will be happy to help you with any of your requests. We are not just a place to sleep, we are a whole travel experience! Our guests agree that our central location, comfortable beds, and a vibrant party atmosphere will leave you wanting more! View House Rules

Get a real taste of Spanish history when you stay at Living Cat's Hostel Madrid. Our stunning Andalusian-style courtyard is left behind from the hostel's days as a 17th-century palace, and we'll serve you sangria straight from the fountain! Start your night in our bar then join in our tapas tour to get a flavour of the city as you dive right into its social scene. Our weekend paella party is not to be missed!

We’re centrally located, so you can be checked in and having a beer within 45 minutes of leaving the airport – just jump on the metro to Anton Martin, a 3-minute walk away. Arriving by train? Atocha Station is 15 minutes on foot. Once you’re sorted, make for the public plaza that's a hub of the city, Puerta del Sol, a 5-minute stroll away. Go for a wander through La Latina – Madrid’s oldest neighbourhood, and reachable in 10 minutes – and stop for tapas and shopping in the Sunday flea market. Or, tick off one of your 'musts' and visit Museo Nacional del Prado – 13 minutes from our door.

Rooms and Dorms

Our rooms are newly renovated and we have mixed and female-only dorms with comfortable bunks. We'll give you clean linen, so you can keep that sleeping bag stowed away, and each bunk has a locker. Like to have your own space? Book a single, double or twin room with an en-suite.

Extras and activities

After a morning exploring, cool off in the courtyard or find a spot in our lounge with air con, where you can use the free Wi-Fi to Skype home. If you need some down time, plan your next day with the help of our free city maps, or grab a book from the exchange. When the siesta's over and you're heading out to discover the city's nightlife, dance as long as your legs allow you – our reception's open 24 hours.

2 euros for storing your luggage after. No hobs to cook (but kitchen with a fridge exists). The rest is brilliant: location just in the right place, 2 metro stations withing 3 mins walk, Retiro Park or Plaza Major probably within 15mins walk; small veggie/fruits shops, bakeries, Lidl within 2-5mins walk; lockers under beds by using an electronic card. Highly recommended. I heard that some big group of unhappy teenagers which have been banned from bringing alcohol, left about100 malicious reviews

The staff is really nice , the ones behind the bar and reception. I stayed there for two weeks because I was working in Madrid and I really loved it. It's big but you can still meet people and everything is clean. I'd always come back

Preços bons no bar. Ficaria novamente

I booked this hostel because i just wanted to chill in Madrid for few days And meet with friends. As expected in Madrid it turned out super crazy and fun! Love the carton chairs at the dinning area and the red room where you get to meet a lot of interesting people while drinking 70cl sangria or heineken!

The hostel itself was clean, visually appealing, and close to almost every attraction in Madrid as well as grocery stores and pharmacies. However, Cats was way too overpriced. I paid nearly €70 for 4 nights, another €3 for a towel, €3.5 for each drink, €5 for each breakfast, and €15 for each pub crawl. All in all, it’s very nice but I think I’ll find something a bit more budget-friendly next time.

Staff were helpful when there were problems with other guests in dorms. Also very helpful after I had my wallet stolen on the pub crawl- never lose sight of your bag ladies!!!! Not much atmosphere for a “party hostel”, guess it’s just a weird time of the year. Also, a lot of male guests in the dorms over 40 years. Kinda weird and a little uncomfortable. Beds are quite comfortable. Great location. Wasn’t impressed at what was offered for breakfast for 5€.

Staff is gloomy gus. When we arrived there, they could not find my booking via website and they said that I could not take my money that I paid for booking. I don’t like its atmosphere. Rooms and restrooms are really clean and its location is close to every touristic place.

    Very Good

This hostel is in a very nice building and is a great location. I was visiting during the winter and it was not busy so as a result it was not very social. The facilities were all very clean but the kitchen had very little equipment. I would not recommend going on the pub crawl either, but overall is a food hostel.

Was a weird vibe where the staff couldnt or didnt get people involved. Also advertised a kitchen but could barely find a sharp knife and definitely no hob/stove. Otherwise nice and clean.

Cats Hostel Madrid Sol says

Our 17th-century Andalusian/Moorish patio definitely sets us apart from other hostels in Madrid. We're the only hostel in the city with its own nightclub, plus we've got free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and more. We're located in the centre of Old Madrid, just one minute from Madrid's best nightlife, which we highly recommend to all our guests. A five-minute walk from the hostel will bring you to Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. I especially recommend Puerta del Sol if you're looking for the best shopping area.
Our hostel is ideally suited for travellers looking to have a good time and get to know people from all over the world, while at the same time enjoying maximum comfort and competitive prices. If you want to party and meet new people from all over the world, this is the place to be! We've got tons of activities going on, like karaoke, games, casino, Spanish classes, flamenco and salsa classes, pub crawls, tapas tours, walking tours and much more. Marta, Director of Expansion
