Hostelworld says

Hostel 64 Osaka is located in the trendy Nishi-ku district, five minutes' walk from three metro stations serving three lines going all across the city. This stylish, clean, boutique hostel features tatami-style private rooms as well as privacy screens between each dorm bed. There's no bunk beds. They also have a bar, laundry facilities, massage chairs and bike rental. We like their rooftop terrace, perfect for relaxing or doing yoga.

Property Description

A boutique hostel designed by an architectural firm. Although it is not a party place, you will feel at home in the warm atmosphere.

Renovated from a 50-year-old building used to be a manufacture's office and its workers' residence, and newly opened in 2010, you can enjoy the modern design and interior decoration mixed with vintage and retro flavor.

HOSTEL 64 Osaka has been renovated from an office building built in 1964 and we try to leave a sense of retro-flavor so that you will enjoy both Neo-modern and Retro-old Japan.
For this reason, not every item or facility is new and also due to Japanese traditional fittings such as paper doors, rooms are not perfectly sound-proof. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

Our friendly staffs are happy to help our guests for any problems.
Feel free to ask us for the local information for shopping, culture, art & design and nice food!

Best value for the money on a bed during my time in Japan. Actually, best hostel bed ever. What I paid for a capsule type bed in Kyoto and Tokyo got me a full private bed/ mini room here. I arrived in Osaka tired and sick so imagine my utter delight when I saw all the space I was getting! The staff was also incredibly helpful in helping me to read the labels on medicine / find a pharmacy. Yes, the walls are thin, but it was something I happily put up with for everything else.

I love this hostel! The common room is sunny & welcoming, the staff is friendly (and they make great lattes!), and the rooms are ingeniously designed. Highly recommend!

This was a real find. One of the best hostels we've stayed in. Lots of cool retro atmosphere, large tatami room for 3. Plenty of room for luggage. Clean and modern bathroom facilities. Great Hangout map that pings bars and restaurants in area as well as flea markets, yoga etc . Osaka record map for vinyl nuts. Maps for Ame Hori area that pings cool areas. They have it sorted. Wish we had found it earlier.

Very cool hostel, we stayed in the private western style room and it was really nice and spacious. The common area/lounge was also great and the staff were super helpful! Would recommend staying there and hopefully we'll get a chance to stay again - thanks for a great time!

This was the most spacious room I’ve ever had in a hostel... generally I thought this place was good but probably could have worked a little on creating more of an atmosphere. Would recommend!

Really nice place to stay. I stayed in a lovely traditional Japanese room (very thin walls though so could hear my neighbours too much!). Slightly odd shared shower - having to crouch down to almost crawl under the doorway to get in. The staff were super friendly and the communal areas were lovely.

Hostel 64 Osaka says

We offer some great extras, such as our souvenirs and goods with our original designs on them. There's also a fine choice of books in the lobby.
There's many fashionable cafes and galleries in the neighbouring Shinsaibashi and Horie, within five to ten minutes' walk. The one local place I recommend guests visit is Utsubo Park, which is crowded with joggers and walkers. It's just eight minutes' walk from here.
For fun around our hostel, our guests usually spend their time in our shared spaces, like the lobby, bar lounge and the rooftop. Most of our guests are aged 20 to 40 and although we have no elevator in the hostel we do cater to people with special needs or disabilities. Ryosuke Tabata, Manager
