Property Description

Remarkably located in the heart of Chelsea, Midtown Manhattan. We are on-site 24/7 to make sure everybody is happy, peaceful and safe. This is a vegetarian place. No smoking, no alcohol, no meat/fish/egg products. No spitting on the floor. We use the profits from the guest rooms here to provide free hot meal for homeless people in the streets of New York City. Our guests are welcome to come to help with the meal distribution. It's a wonderful way to experience the happiness of giving.

Our location in the heart of Chelsea, West Side Manhattan (between 28th and 29th streets) is remarkable: we're within walking distance of Times Square, Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, High-line Park, Central Park, and the world-famous Manhattan Theater District. Subway station is a 2 min walk. This neighborhood is very central and safe. It's known for its unique restaurants, shops, art galleries and theaters. You can get anywhere in the city quickly and easily from here.

Our hostel-style separate pod-rooms are simple, cozy, and very clean. Although small in size they are centered around a spacious common lounge area with free WiFi. Fresh, clean sheets, pillows towels and blankets are there for you. Bringing a pair of flip-flops to use in the bathroom would be a good idea.

I loved my stay here so much! I would return in a heartbeat! I loved the peaceful vibe and the feeling of sanctuary. Everybody was so incredibly helpful and the hostel was a balm for the soul. I consider it a gem in NYC and as I say, I'd return in a heartbeat. Great location, it got a ten out of ten for me on every level.

Safe private rooms. Older building but in excellent condition all things considered. Very clean. Could ditch some of artificial flowers though. Food wonderful. Considering it is just hostel. Instead of more common white bread and peanut butter...Had variety wholesome flavorful breads. Plenty of fresh fruit. Seasonal...when I was there had berries and avocados... Instant coffee though...but can live with that given the nice food choices.

The hostel is on second floor and there is no elevator. My friends had big luggage and they had difficulty to move it via stairs. It's only one floor with separated rooms, there is bed, small table, hooks, some shelf in every room, it feels like chicken coop, but you can lock your own room, it's very secured for individuals. The wall is very thin, and the ceiling is not solid, so one of the policy is keep quiet after 10pm. It's unique and I like this place.

Based on previous and helpful reviews the accommodations were as promised. A clean small room with a shared bathroom. Nothing fancy, but met my needs for two nights and was within walking distance to the convention center where I was working. Also walking distance to Chelsea restaurants/ galleries and the High Line walkway.

Can't get more convenient in terms of location as it's a short walk from Penn Station. It's a little cramped, but it's fine for a short stay and it's pretty clean. Staff is nice and there's wifi and snacks available 24/7. A warning: it can only be reached by going up a long set of stairs so it's not accessible to people with wheelchairs or other mobility issues. I had a leg injury and it took forever to get in and out of there. Another note: bathroom/shower is coed. Avoid if that bothers you.

    Very Good

Be prepared for the room to be very very small- it's surprisingly a workable space as theres storage space under the bed and on a shelf above the bed where I kept all my stuff. My only big issue was the bed was too short- I'm not hugely tall (1.7m) and I had to keep my legs bent while sleeping so I wouldn't recommend if you're like me and like to stretch your legs out while sleeping. Other than that the breakfast was excellent and location is unbeatable.

    Very Good

    09 Jul 2019
Pros: clean, food available all day, nice staff, safe: key card to get into building, key to get into hostel, key to your room; overhead storage and mirror in room Cons: The ceiling is open concept so you hear *everything*, the rooms are TINY, if you are over 5’6 I can’t see it being comfortable for you. Overall: Good place for a short term stay. Finding the right hostel is like dating - not everyone will suit you and this place is not for everyone.

The "individual" rooms are not real rooms. There is no ceiling, so noises are a big issue at night when people snores. Space is the other problem. The room is less than 2m by 1.5 m, so very uncomfortable. The same applies to the 3 toilets and 2 showers. Staff does not provide much help other than doing their surveillance job. Location is great, very central and walking distance of the main attractions in Manhattan. It is safe and you stuff can be left in the room without worries.

I was placed on an all-male floor where I asked for a more secure area for women. I used the only bathroom on the floor and there was someone trying to peek in between the stalls. It felt unsafe and the only plusses are the free breakfast and knowing that part of the proceeds will hopefully feed the needy. Would not return nor recommend.
