Property Description

Remarkably located in the heart of Chelsea, Midtown Manhattan. We are on-site 24/7 to make sure everybody is happy, peaceful and safe. This is a vegetarian place. No smoking, no alcohol, no meat/fish/egg products. No spitting on the floor. We use the profits from the guest rooms here to provide free hot meal for homeless people in the streets of New York City. Our guests are welcome to come to help with the meal distribution. It's a wonderful way to experience the happiness of giving.

Our location in the heart of Chelsea, West Side Manhattan (between 28th and 29th streets) is remarkable: we're within walking distance of Times Square, Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, High-line Park, Central Park, and the world-famous Manhattan Theater District. Subway station is a 2 min walk. This neighborhood is very central and safe. It's known for its unique restaurants, shops, art galleries and theaters. You can get anywhere in the city quickly and easily from here.

Our hostel-style separate pod-rooms are simple, cozy, and very clean. Although small in size they are centered around a spacious common lounge area with free WiFi. Fresh, clean sheets, pillows towels and blankets are there for you. Bringing a pair of flip-flops to use in the bathroom would be a good idea.

I loved my stay here so much! I would return in a heartbeat! I loved the peaceful vibe and the feeling of sanctuary. Everybody was so incredibly helpful and the hostel was a balm for the soul. I consider it a gem in NYC and as I say, I'd return in a heartbeat. Great location, it got a ten out of ten for me on every level.

These are good people who run this hostel. They were helpful with carrying my bags if needed and were thorough in making sure we were comfortable, and understood the rules of the facility. They also provided an abundance of fresh fruit and quick foods to make and that was unexpected and so kind! I am especially thankful because I had a medical incident right outside the front door and when they saw this on camera they immediately rushed down to help and cared about my safety. Thank you so much.

Very good location. Quiet and convenient stay for four days. The bed and the room were small but regarded its price, it was of great value. Co-ed bathroom, not a problem for me. The bathroom was always clean. Overall, it was a good stay.

Loved the quiet peaceful vibe here! Cosy closet-sized rooms of your own with unlimited snacks and fruits all day. Price is a little steep considering the location and being private rooms in midtown, but proceeds go to the homeless so it's great to stay for charitable reasons. Toilets/showers were clean and comfy. Only cons would be small rooms and open ceiling - ear plugs provided! Stayed here a night and enjoyed it, booked a longer stay after my return from DC. Thank you, Alex and co!

Based on previous and helpful reviews the accommodations were as promised. A clean small room with a shared bathroom. Nothing fancy, but met my needs for two nights and was within walking distance to the convention center where I was working. Also walking distance to Chelsea restaurants/ galleries and the High Line walkway.

    Fabulous

Great stay for solo travelers under 6 feet tall. I'm 6'1 and was a little uncomfortable. Great place to catch some ZzzZ but no talking,. Making noise etc.. kinda rude staff (not Alex) when asking people to be quiet. I'd stay again if I was in a pinch. Super close to Madison square garden and Penn station.

    Fabulous

    21 Jul 2019
It was overall a good experience that met my basic needs. The spiritual atmosphere was peaceful. I appreciated the variety of fruits and bread, but would have preferred cereal that was not mixed together with other cereals. I was put in a room where the not only the bed was too short for my 6-ft tall body, but the entire room was too short. Plus, the foam sleeping pad was broken down in the middle. The staff was accommodating and let me have a different room that fit better.

    Fabulous

Can't get more convenient in terms of location as it's a short walk from Penn Station. It's a little cramped, but it's fine for a short stay and it's pretty clean. Staff is nice and there's wifi and snacks available 24/7. A warning: it can only be reached by going up a long set of stairs so it's not accessible to people with wheelchairs or other mobility issues. I had a leg injury and it took forever to get in and out of there. Another note: bathroom/shower is coed. Avoid if that bothers you.

    Very Good

Be prepared for the room to be very very small- it's surprisingly a workable space as theres storage space under the bed and on a shelf above the bed where I kept all my stuff. My only big issue was the bed was too short- I'm not hugely tall (1.7m) and I had to keep my legs bent while sleeping so I wouldn't recommend if you're like me and like to stretch your legs out while sleeping. Other than that the breakfast was excellent and location is unbeatable.

    Very Good

    09 Jul 2019
Pros: clean, food available all day, nice staff, safe: key card to get into building, key to get into hostel, key to your room; overhead storage and mirror in room Cons: The ceiling is open concept so you hear *everything*, the rooms are TINY, if you are over 5’6 I can’t see it being comfortable for you. Overall: Good place for a short term stay. Finding the right hostel is like dating - not everyone will suit you and this place is not for everyone.
