Overview

At Itaca Hostel, we're a small community with a big heart. Whether you're wandering the backstreets of Barcelona on one of our free city tours, making new friends in our lounge or getting travel tips from our 24-hour reception, we'll make you feel like part of the family. We even run free weekly sangria sessions in our bar to give you a taste of the local culture! Get your new mates to teach you a couple of chords on the guitar, or start up a tournament with one of our board games.

Location

We're a 6-minute walk from the old Barri Gòtic (Gothic Quarter), while Las Ramblas shopping street is an 8-minute stroll in the other direction. We're on a little street 2 minutes on foot from Cathedral Square, so we're a welcome haven in the middle of the city. You'll find art galleries, clubs and live music bars just around the corner. From Barcelona Sants train station, hop on the metro for five stops to Plaça Catalunya and you'll be 8 minutes from us on foot. Barcelona-El Prat Airport is a 20-minute taxi ride away, or there are plenty of public transport options to get you here in about 45 minutes.

Rooms and Dorms

Pick from private rooms or mixed dorms, all with clean shared bathrooms featuring hot showers. Dorms have balconies, so you can wake up and step outside into the sun each morning. You'll have bedding included and a private reading light and locker with a plug socket inside so you can charge your phone without supervising it.

Extras and activities

Grab a beer and unwind while watching TV or browsing the web on the free, super-speedy fibre-optic Wi-Fi. There are hairdryers available too, because no one wants to squeeze one of those into their backpack! You can also swap the thriller you just read for a new one in the book exchange.

Wonderful hostel! A nice touch are the charging points being inside the lockers. So you can charge your phone without worrying about it being stolen.

Great little hostel, the lockers were big and the beds were very comfortable. There were lots of little cafes and restaurants open nearby in the Gothic Quarter, and everything was easily within walking distance. Overall, a great experience!

Couldn’t have been in a better location. In the middle of the Gothic Quarter around the corner from the cathedral. The staff are incredibly friendly and willing to help with recommendations and suggestions. It was really easy to meet people with the free walking tours, sangria night, and pub crawl. The beds were comfortable but a little small. There was free tea and coffee in the kitchen.

This is the first time I stayed at a hostel, and it was such a pleasant experience! All the staff members were friendly and accommodating. I felt secure knowing there was someone downstairs to let people into the building. The one downside was the bathroom. The water water pressure as low and I didn’t feel that one had privacy as the showers were directly in front of the bathroom door.

Itaca Hostel says

Being a small hostel, people here get to know each other and enjoy their stay more. If they want extra activities we can work with people who organise events. As we're a small hostel we offer the personal touch, with friendly, helpful staff. We care about our guests and try to make sure they enjoy their stay here. I'd say we're ideally suited for anyone who wants a relaxing stay in a small, independent hostel. We're not a party hostel and generally don't book large groups.
The nearest main attractions to us are the cathedral (100m away) and La Rambla, which is only five minutes away. I recommend people explore the Gothic Quarter and visit the Palau de la Música, just two minutes' walk away from here.
