Didn't spend a lot of time in the hostel (only used it for sleeping) but from my time there it seemed to be set up well for guests. I thought the rooms had been done up nicely and it was interesting wandering around looking at the old jail cells which are now being used as exhibits. Also thought the location was great as the hostel is tucked away from the main road and is really quiet. Would definitely recommend to friends

Fun place. Especially has lots of character. It is fun how they have kept the character of the jail and even played to it with places to take photos of you in jail. It was nice and clean and easy to find and there was parking

Accomodating staff. A 15 minute walk from city centre. The matrasses in twin room a bit too hard but overall good, clean facilites. Good pressure in showers, everything you need in the kitchen, heating in rooms and extra blankets if needed. Recommended.

Fantastic location with real character. The only quibble is probably due to the historic character of the building, but the bathrooms really need better ventilation/extractor fans in them.

Great hostel to stay in for a couple of nights. Bathrooms and kichen were always clean. The kitchen is big and has everything you need to cook a nice meal. A little far walk from the city center (30min walk) but a good place to stay if you are taking the train early in the morning (20 min walk). It's nice to be able to read about the history of the jail, and even see original artwork on the wall of one of the cells (you don't sleep in this cell).

Negs - Online bookings charge extra in US $$ - room @ $85 actually costs $89. TV not working in room (21) Tiles in shower room very slippery & dangerous (right at door) maybe rubber mats could help? Positives - Cool, cool building & theme good location keen to bring the kids for a night in 'Jail' :)

When I checked in the reception person was slow and to busy chatting to another customer to bother checking me in. My room was double booked. I had checked in and when I got back later that night, someone else was in my room, and had thrown all my stuff on the floor. It took ages to get another room, and it was a single bunk room, which I specificaly didn't NOT want, and there was NO towel provided. Pretty much an awful experience for my first time, will NOT recommend Jailhouse to anyone.
