We had a great experience here, aside from the fact that it was a massive party hostel and music blasted late into the night. We checked into a 6 bed dorm and practically got the place to ourselves which is what made it so lovely. The hostel is massive - with another hostel attached at the back. Laundry was expensive and breakfast was pitiful - we always skipped and headed out instead. Location is great - close to lovely restaurants and facilities. Only 10 mins from metro. Staff wonderful.

La Chimba is a great hostel, one of the best I have ever been to. The staff is very friendly and international, the hostel has a great decoration, different spaces to rest, drink a beer and talk to friends. The only negative point of the hostel and it's a big one, but there isn't much they can do about it, is that there are clubs nearby and their music is insanely loud and goes until 5am, which makes very difficult to sleep in most dorms.

Loved our stay at la chimba. All of the staff were super welcoming, helpful and smiley. The hostel stretches quite far back and there are loads of great little patios to chill out in with tables and chairs and hammocks. The breakfast wasn’t the best but that’s probably the only downside. Each night they did something social like beer pong and karaoke which was fun too. Overall great hostel. Viva La Chimba!

PROS: The location is good and close to the park, markets and restaurants. The only downside is while we were there the protests were going on and there were certain times of the day/night that you should avoid certain areas. Overall the hostel felt pretty secure. CONS: the room I reviewed online was NOT the same room that we were given. The online photos are deceiving, there were only 2 bathrooms and 1 kept flooding the entire time. It is a party hostel so bring earplugs. Breakfast is bread.

Stay here if you want to go out, don’t stay here if you want to sleep. It’s located in the middle of a lot of clubs and bars and even if you can sleep through the music, people will be going in and out of the room all night.

La Chimba Hostel says

I think Barrio Bellavista is arguably the most interesting district of Santiago, as far as cultural attractions and vibrant nightlife goes. The area is an oasis of colorful low-rise colonial architecture with leafy streets and a village-like atmosphere, and just a short walk to Plaza Italia, the Times Square of Santiago. The Baquedano Hub Metro station is located here and is the station that provides the most connectivity of the whole subway system. I particularly recommend visiting Cerro San Cristobal (the Metropolitan Park, a tall hill with a cable cart and amazing views of the city) and poet Pablo Neruda's former house, which is open to visitors. Both are less than two blocks away from our hostel. We can cater for people with disabilities and our hostel is suitable for independent solo travellers and couples seeking a social place to meet other travellers and experience Santiago's culture and nightlife.
