Great location to ATM cave!!! I had the pleasure of staying here for a few nights. Maddy the owner/ host Has a wealth of knowledge and eager to help. She helped book our ATM trip with a great company. The hostel has a lot to do in its self from swimming holes to trail walking with one of her dogs. The staff that works there is extremely friendly and the cooks make amazing meals at a reasonable price too! Overall the experience is great and if you are planning on going to the ATM cave stay here!

We absolutely loved our stay at Lower Dover! Maddy was so helpful in planning our itinerary and with any questions we had. She knows so much about the area and its history. Talking to her during the delicious breakfasts and dinners was definitely a highlight of our trip. If you have the chance, take a walk around the Mayan ruins on the property with Maddy and the dogs. The hostel is beautiful, the location is breathtaking, and the open-air showers were incredible. You should 100% stay here!

Everything about this place makes you feel like you're right at home. With that home being a base camp in the middle of a jungle. Family style breakfasts and dinners were amazing and healthy. Thank you Maddy for opening up your cozy farm as a hostel, your hospitality is unmatched.

The most wonderful escape from your typical traveller hostel! Maddie was an amazing host and everything about this place is magical! Cute dogs, natural swimming holes and unexcavated mayan jungle ruins with no other people! Also there are a few places to eat in the village if 13 USD is a bit out your budget (like us) and was easy to catch a bus to most places. Stay here if you want a peaceful nature escape with a small amount of like minded people! Can't recommend enough 😊

My time at Lower Dover was just amazing. The owner greeting me by name as I was walking up and almost immediately gave me one of their dogs to go on a jungle hike on their trails. Absolutely gorgeous property. Delicious meals. The hibiscus wine that’s made there is sooo good. Super accommodating host! Clean and cozy and fascinating history of the ruins on and around their property. Would absolutely stay here again if I’m back in the area!!!

Lower Dover was one of my favorite places I've ever stayed. I was there for a few days, but wish I would have had a week in this area. I swam in the river every day, I got to walk around the forest and look at different plants and animals. The area was very clean, the rooms were comfortable, the food was delicious, and the staff was INCREDIBLY kind. From the lodge, I was able to schedule ATM tours. If I ever come back to Belize, I will definitely stay at Lower Dover again.

Maddy is a really lovely host and she makes an active effort to make sure you enjoy your time in the area! We were visiting in low season and there were only three people staying. Which was fine for us, but may be worth bearing in mind for others. Lower Dover itself had all the amenities incl. mosquito nets. The breakfast and dinner was delicious. Location was a bit remote. We did the candle caving in Semuc Champey and were happy that the ATM caves were much bigger and far more interesting.

Wouldn’t describe as a hostel, more of an inn/lodge. A little out of the way, but easy enough to access with local busses. Owner is friendly and helpful. You can opt for family meals (breakfast and dinner), they’re on the pricy side but when you see location you’ll understand.
