General Group Booking Terms

By making a group reservation through Hostelworld.com you agree to the following terms and conditions as set by Hostelworld.com and as set by the hostel in question.

  • In order to make a group reservation on Hostelworld.com it is necessary to pay a deposit. The balance is due directly to the hostel according to their payment conditions.
  • The booking deposit is non-refundable.
  • Please note that any cancellations must be notified directly to the hostel at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled arrival date, unless otherwise stated in the hostel's conditions.
  • Hostelworld.com are not responsible for changes or amendments to your reservation once it has been processed. All correspondence with regard to changes to your booking need to be dealt with directly with the hostel.
  • Cancellations for reservations must be made directly with the hostel and must conform with the individual hostels cancellation policy (see below)
  • It is your responsibility to pay the balance of your accommodation cost to the hostel in accordance with their payment conditions (see below). Failure to do so may result in your reservation being cancelled by the hostel.
  • Individual hostels may have special booking conditions relating to group stays, please read the hostel booking conditions carefully before making your reservation.

Hostel Specific Terms & Conditions

The remainder of the amount due will be charged to your credit card 4 weeks prior to arrival. Should numbers or room selection change, the per person deposit times the number of people who actually travelled will be deducted from the total accommodation charge levvied by the hostel.

Cancellation / No Show & Reduction in Numbers Policy

The deadline for free cancellations is 60 days before the day of arrival for group bookings on the basis of multi-bed rooms. For groups on the basis of single and double rooms, the deadline for free cancellations is 45 days before the day of arrival. These deadlines also apply if the Contract is concluded within the respective deadline. On cancellation after these deadlines, cancellation charges are payable on the following terms:

a) From 59 days (group booking on the basis of multi-bed rooms) or 44 days (group booking on the basis of single and double rooms) to 30 days prior to arrival, 30 percent of the agreed booking price is payable.
b) 29 to 10 days prior to arrival: 50 percent of the total agreed booking price is payable.
c) 9 to 1 day(s) prior to arrival: 80 percent of the total agreed booking price is payable.
d) In the event of a cancellation on the day of arrival or non-utilisation of the service, 90 percent of the total agreed booking price is payable.
e) If the number of persons falls by more than ten percent within these deadlines, the above cancellation charges for the cancelled persons will apply accordingly. Up to ten percent of the number of persons may be cancelled free of charge up to one day prior to arrival.
Unless otherwise agreed, for groups of twelve persons or more a payment of 10 percent of the total booking price shall be due immediately on confirmation of the booking. Unless otherwise agreed, the remaining amount will be due no later than four weeks prior to arrival without the Hotel issuing a separate payment reminder. In the case of group bookings booked less than eight weeks prior to arrival, the first advance payment of 10 percent shall not apply and the total booking price will be due in full in advance immediately on confirmation of the booking.

The following group types are not accepted by this hostel: Stag/Hen/Bachelor Party If you have misrepresented the type of group you are booking for, your booking may be cancelled by the hostel."

Property Description

Our second MEININGER hotel in Amsterdam is located in the district of Watergraafsmeer in the immediate vicinity of Park Frankendael and Amsterdam's lifeline, the Amstel. It is also part of the city's tallest residential skyscraper and is located directly opposite the Amsterdam Amstelstation train station.

Thanks to this location, the center with its sights is only a few minutes away by train. Alternatively, the historic old town can be easily reached by bike, crossing Berlagebrug, in just 15 minutes.

The new hotel has 185 rooms in the modern MEININGER standard. All rooms, whether double, multiple or dorm, are equipped with a flatscreen TV, free Wi-Fi, hairdryer and private bathroom. The rooms but also the public areas such as the reception, lobby, lounge, breakfast room and bar, as well as the MEININGER typical guest kitchen, Gamezone and Kidszone use the theme 'Sea Level', which is reflected in the design. So it does not stop you from trying in an authentic atmosphere in the guest kitchen to prepare Dutch specialties like 'Bitterballen' yourself! Or if you're more into dining out, relax in the lobby and check out the internet for Amsterdam's best restaurants. Free Wi-Fi is provided free of charge in all public areas and rooms. 0 to 7 days prior to arrival or in case of No Show we will charge you 100 % of the total booking amount. We require payment in advance for the whole booking amount (bank transfer or credit card payment), in order to guarantee your reservation.
In case of cancellation from 0-6 days prior arrival we do also charge the credit card with 100 % of the whole amount. The credit card will be charged 6 prior arrival and the amount is not refundable.
If payment is not received your booking will be cancelled.

    The hotel/hostel is huge! It's literally right next to the Amsterdam Amstel train station, which is convenient when travelling to the main area. Towels are provided for free. The rooms & bathrooms are very modern and clean. Each bed has a power outlet and small light, as well as a storage unit you can secure with your own lock. There's a guest kitchen on the ground floor. Only issue I had was the broken radiator in our bathroom.

    I liked my stay at the hostel however the kitchen was quite bad. First of all, there is only one kitchen and sometimes it can be really crowded. Second, someone stole our food from the fridge. There is a note that says that the administration isn't responsible for lost/stolen items and that basically a green light to stealing. That wasn't cool. Apart from that, everything was fine

    Very clean rooms and bathrooms and a comfy bed, but absolutely no atmosphere definitely felt more like a hotel. Its right near Amstel station but not really near any main sights so you'll be getting the train or meteo into Centraal a lot.

    I’ve been travelling for a while now, and this is easily the worst hostel I’ve stayed in. House keeping literally took a bag of clothes I had just bought the day prior and threw them out. When asking the staff about this, they were rude and made me feel like it was it was my fault. The kitchen is tiny and always busy, and even though it is directly next to Amstel station, it’s still out of the city. Do NOT waste your money here.
