General Group Booking Terms

By making a group reservation through Hostelworld.com you agree to the following terms and conditions as set by Hostelworld.com and as set by the hostel in question.

  • In order to make a group reservation on Hostelworld.com it is necessary to pay a deposit. The balance is due directly to the hostel according to their payment conditions.
  • The booking deposit is non-refundable.
  • Please note that any cancellations must be notified directly to the hostel at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled arrival date, unless otherwise stated in the hostel's conditions.
  • Hostelworld.com are not responsible for changes or amendments to your reservation once it has been processed. All correspondence with regard to changes to your booking need to be dealt with directly with the hostel.
  • Cancellations for reservations must be made directly with the hostel and must conform with the individual hostels cancellation policy (see below)
  • It is your responsibility to pay the balance of your accommodation cost to the hostel in accordance with their payment conditions (see below). Failure to do so may result in your reservation being cancelled by the hostel.
  • Individual hostels may have special booking conditions relating to group stays, please read the hostel booking conditions carefully before making your reservation.

Hostel Specific Terms & Conditions

The remainder of the amount due will be charged to your credit card 4 weeks prior to arrival. Should numbers or room selection change, the per person deposit times the number of people who actually travelled will be deducted from the total accommodation charge levvied by the hostel.

Cancellation / No Show & Reduction in Numbers Policy

The deadline for free cancellations is 60 days before the day of arrival for group bookings on the basis of multi-bed rooms. For groups on the basis of single and double rooms, the deadline for free cancellations is 45 days before the day of arrival. These deadlines also apply if the Contract is concluded within the respective deadline. On cancellation after these deadlines, cancellation charges are payable on the following terms:

a) From 59 days (group booking on the basis of multi-bed rooms) or 44 days (group booking on the basis of single and double rooms) to 30 days prior to arrival, 30 percent of the agreed booking price is payable.
b) 29 to 10 days prior to arrival: 50 percent of the total agreed booking price is payable.
c) 9 to 1 day(s) prior to arrival: 80 percent of the total agreed booking price is payable.
d) In the event of a cancellation on the day of arrival or non-utilisation of the service, 90 percent of the total agreed booking price is payable.
e) If the number of persons falls by more than ten percent within these deadlines, the above cancellation charges for the cancelled persons will apply accordingly. Up to ten percent of the number of persons may be cancelled free of charge up to one day prior to arrival.
Unless otherwise agreed, for groups of twelve persons or more a payment of 10 percent of the total booking price shall be due immediately on confirmation of the booking. Unless otherwise agreed, the remaining amount will be due no later than four weeks prior to arrival without the Hotel issuing a separate payment reminder. In the case of group bookings booked less than eight weeks prior to arrival, the first advance payment of 10 percent shall not apply and the total booking price will be due in full in advance immediately on confirmation of the booking.

The following group types are not accepted by this hostel: Stag/Hen/Bachelor Party If you have misrepresented the type of group you are booking for, your booking may be cancelled by the hostel."

Welcome to MEININGER Hotel Amsterdam Amstel

Our second MEININGER hotel in Amsterdam is located in the district of Watergraafsmeer in the immediate vicinity of Park Frankendael and Amsterdam's lifeline, the Amstel. It is also part of the city's tallest residential skyscraper and is located directly opposite the Amsterdam Amstelstation train station.

Thanks to this location, the center with its sights is only a few minutes away by train. Alternatively, the historic old town can be easily reached by bike, crossing Berlagebrug, in just 15 minutes.

The new hotel has 186 rooms in the modern MEININGER standard. All rooms, whether double, multiple or dorm, are equipped with a flatscreen TV, free Wi-Fi, hairdryer and private bathroom. The rooms but also the public areas such as the reception, lobby, lounge, breakfast room and bar, as well as the MEININGER typical guest kitchen, Gamezone and Kidszone use the theme 'Sea Level', which is reflected in the design. So it does not stop you from trying in an authentic atmosphere in the guest kitchen to prepare Dutch specialties like 'Bitterballen' yourself!     Absolutely loved my stay at this hostel. I thought I would be spending a lot of time on transportation not being in the center of the city, but this hostel was actually next to the metro station and the ride was not even 10 mins long. My roommates were all very nice, so it was easy to share the room together. I even went out for some drinks with a couple of them. Definitely recommend this stay!

    this hostel I rate 10/10!!! Very clean, modern place. Inside the rooms there are free of charge, individual secure lockers for every guest, what is always very important for me. (bring your own padlock as usual) Staff very friendly and helpful. Perfect location just by Amstel Station so city center you can reach in 10 minutes by metro/train or if you like 45 minutes walking along Amstel canal.

    The place is amazing. It is very near to the amstel metro station and everything is accessible. The staff is super friendly and the rooms are clean. Our only concern was the room scent;however, our friends room smelled perfect; our smelled like someone spilled hair oil just before our arrival, yet everything else was perfect. I’ld definitely stay there again!

    Essentially a hotel feeling overall but in a dorm room and with possibility of cooking own food. Very clean an nice quality overall. Atmosphere was pretty dead when I stayed, because of covid. But even when busy I don't think there's any typical hostel vibe since it's more of a hotel as mentioned.

    I wouldn't recommend coming here to meet people through the hostel. I was in a room with one other girl who was hardly there. As a solo traveler I was disappointed. It was clean but the water never got hot for showers. Good location to get to the metro though!! Staff were ok, had some issues with charges but were resolved with the one lady who helped me fix that. Some stuff was not offered at the location because of covid. Besides a few things, I will be back because of the location.

    A bit far away from the center, but close to a metro station. We rented some bikes, they were expensive and a little messed up haha, but it was good to be able to return them directly to the hotel. Breakfast was very good and was a buffet (at a reasonable price) Overall we had a good experience :)

    I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The staff was not accommodating at all and the location was very far than what was advertised. The staff initially gave me the wrong key card, leading me into another guests room at 3 am and freaking everybody out. Then I was given the wrong room AGAIN after I requested an all female dorm, I was put in a dorm with a man (I am a single, female traveler). My right room did not follow COVID protocols at all with the beds all pushed together.
