I loved my stay. I had a beautiful historic room, overlooking the street and garden. The rooms were clean and quiet. My room had lovely character details, exposed brick walls and large windows with a great little kitchenette, ensuite and aircon. This stay was exactly the experience I wanted in the garden district. I can't wait for my next trip to New Orleans, I'll definitely be staying again. Great work Marquette House!

    Superb

We traveled to New Orleans for the College Football Playoff and were surprised to find the hostel rather quiet for the duration of our stay. The concierge staff, along with a few other staff members we crossed paths with, were courteous and helpful in getting us settled. Beds were comfy, linens were clean, and, despite it being Louisiana... still not a single sighting of a cockroach! Impressive! Will definitely be back.

    Fabulous

It was simply a place to lay my head and close my eyes at night. I wanted something cheap for three nights in a very central location of New Orleans, and this hostel fit that need. It’s literally a block north of Saint Charles Avenue, the streetcar, and where the Garden District begins. From there, it’s easy to get to Canal Street and the French Quarter. I had a private room that was very spacious, clean, but I did notice that the room had a moldy or smoky smell.

    Very Good

Our trip to New Orleans was originally planned with a large group. Unfortunately, everyone bailed last minute - therefore, the house we rented would no longer be available for a party of two. A last-minute hotel would've been too expensive, and we honestly would rather stay somewhere that felt a little more like New Orleans. The Marquette was not only on the slightly more affordable side (240) for a last-minute booking (private room), but it had a historical feel.

Overall it is a good price for money, I would rate it higher if the beds were more comfortable. The heater was out of order but they provided a stand-alone one, which worked well.

    Good

I only had one night here, and was out on Bourbon Street for more time than i was even in the hostel. Comfortable living quarters and bathroom area, good amenities in the kitchen area, although i never had a chance to use them. I would say i was quite nervous about staying on my own, as i didnt feel the door was secure enough, the door could have been easily broken into if i had been out too.

Office hours were very limited. The heater did not work, and it was 40 degrees outside, so the next day they gave us a space heater which kinda did the job. Of 3 of the top bunk beds, the first bed missed about 4 horizontal beams, so there was no support, the second bed was so weak it swung back and forth as i climbed on it, and the third bed was really hard to get on. I picked the second bed, but felt so unsafe because I felt like it could collapse at any moment. It swing and squeaked so much.

The reception is closed from eleven until five in the after noon, with nobody to speak with and no place to live your suitcase. Also, although it has some old charm it is old and rusty. not recommended.
