Property Description

Set in the uniquely bio-diverse mountains of the Sierra Nevada, our farm-hostel is a place where guests and workers can enjoy the beauty of one of nature's world wonders whilst also learning about environmental sustainability, organic farming and indigenous culture. Furthermore, the area's natural endowments provide endless opportunities for outdoor activities, hikes and wildlife-watching. Originally, the property was part of an old coffee farm. During the construction of Mundo Nuevo, our goal was to preserve the original structure of the building whilst making it as functional and comfortable as possible for our guests and resident staff members. All our furniture and constructions are made of fallen trees from the property.

Mundo Nuevo is located in the uniquely bio-diverse mountains of the Sierra Nevada. You will have easy access to our fruit trees, vegetable and flower gardens. You will enjoy stunning surrounding views of valleys, mountains, sky, and the Caribbean sea. If you are in the mood to relax, there is a large communal room with sofas and hammocks. The economic support that hostel guests provide is crucial to helping us achieve our sustainability goals. However, the purpose of having a hostel goes beyond economic necessity; we hope that Mundo Nuevo will become a sustainability museum, a place where people from all over the world can learn, debate and contribute to a cause that is relevant to all of us. You will have access to the 3 vegetable gardens, to the Awindua indigenous huts, and multiple trails along the mountain. Mundo Nuevo Minca is not only a place where one can find peace and enjoy the wonders of what nature has to offer, but it is also an educational centre where we aim to spread awareness about the importance of a more sustainable living in order to ensure the preservation of our planet and its resources for the generations to come.

Mundo Nuevo has much to offer, including camping grounds with view of the Sierra, hammocks perched on the morning-sun-ridge, cozy dormitories and beautiful double/triple rooms. (some ensuite).

The staff was absolutely fabulous here. Both of us were ill when we arrived and the staff was able to accommodate all our needs to get better. I've never been treated so well in a hostel! The food and view is amazing. Tips: definitely take a permaculture/beekeeping tour with Pim, he's a champ. Also: they got a solar heated shower with view over the valley. Must go!

By far the best hostel I’ve been to in my life. The views are incredible, the food is incredible, the people are so kind, and amazing nature and coffee/cacao farms are just a short hike away! The hostel itself is sustainable and farms it’s own food, which is vegan and amazing! They also offer massages by an incredible indigenous woman, señora Rosa. I highly recommend this hostel for your stay in Minca. I extended my stay two more nights because I loved it so much.

This is one of the most amazing hostels I’ve stayed at! The Location, up above Minca is just incredible and it’s such a peaceful spot to relax and unwind. The staff is wonderful, the food simply delicious and the whole stay was definitely worth every cent! :)

This is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. The view is unbelievable. Meals are served family-style, which is a great way to meet people, especially if you're travelling solo. Couldn't recommend it enough. Also, La Candelaria is a 20-minute walk away, and a couple beautiful hikes are nearby.

I had such a great time at Mundo Nuevo up in the mountains. Although it's a bit of a bumpy motorbike ride outside of Minca (not too long though), it's such a special place because of the incredible views and peaceful, isolated feel. Both staff and other guests were lovely - met some really great people here, encouraged by long tables and communal meals. My only quarm is that it can get a bit pricey paying for all the meals (make sure you bring enough cash, they take card but there's a charge!).

I really enjoyed my stay at Mundo Nuevo ! The staff is nice and the views from the hostel are wonderful. It's up on a mountain so you have to walk uphill for like an hour to get there or you can use a moto-taxi for 20000 pesos. I wouldn't recommend walking up that hill with your big backpack, instead I left mine at another hostel in the village where I slept the night before so I could get there with my daypack only ! The food is fantastic and totally worth the price ! This place is a must :D

best hostel in minca. Definitely worth the Moto ride up the hill for the amazing view and food. A little lacking in atmosphere as the main area turns off the lights at 9:30, but a good chill break!

The view from this hostel is absolutely stunning! We hiked up from Minca to the Hostel which is a 1.5h steep hike and not too easy with a big backpack. There's also a Taxi and a Motorcycle service. The food is all vegetarian, homemade and super delicious. From the hostel you can make a few beautiful hikes and enjoy the amazing view over the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Bad experience with ROSA the masseuse/curanderos lady. I had a curative massage and I told to her that I’m suffering from cysts on my skin. She said that was able to help, after the first treatment one cyst located on my back got infected. The infection cause me fever and a lot of pain. Back in Santa Marta at my hostel I was told that Rosa doesn’t have a good reputation in community. They said she cares about money and she isn’t a healer. I enjoyed the hostel but it could improve in cleanliness
