We've been welcoming travellers to our award-winning hostel in central London for more than 100 years, and we know the importance of feeling at home away from home. Kick back in spacious communal areas or grab something to eat – we've got everything from traditional English fry-ups to Italian-style pizza and pasta.

Location

You'll be based in quirky Elephant & Castle and only a quick walk to the nearest underground station – from there, it's a few stops to famous sights like the Tower of London and the London Eye. Soho's bohemian bars, Chinatown's buzzing restaurants and Covent Garden market are all a short stroll from Piccadilly Circus, which is five stops away on the Bakerloo line. Up for a night out but don’t feel like going far? The iconic Ministry of Sound nightclub is 12 minutes' walk.

Prefer to have your own private bathroom? Some of our rooms come with en-suites at no extra charge. Wi-Fi and bedding are included in all of our rooms, including mixed and female-only dorms. Each bed has a reading light: perfect for planning your itinerary with our free city maps. Our private rooms are ideal for couples, and make sure to book one of our family rooms if you’re travelling with under-18s. We've got towels and hairdryers for hire, which leaves more space in your backpack for city souvenirs. And don't worry if your bag weighs more than you do – there's also an elevator.

Extras and activities

You'll find all the essentials on-site: an ATM, secure lockers for stowing your bags, 24-hour security and welcoming multilingual staff at the front desk – also open all day and night. If you're staying in, stop by one of the vending machines before swapping stories with fellow travellers in our café or terrace, snuggle up in the TV room on the comfy bean bags, or get involved in some (light) competition over foosball and pool.

    Fabulous

A great, lively hostel to stay in whilst visiting London. I only stayed here for a night as I was catching a flight early the next morning, but from what I saw there seemed to be a lot of happy people staying here. The staff were lovely and really couldn't do enough to help you. Small rooms with limited toilets/showers, but for one night it was perfectly fine. I was kept awake most of the night due to people chatting on the lawn until the early hours, but again, that's kind of to be expected.

Not happy about people coming in after midnight and putting lights on and talking. I was bitten by a bed bug and there is no argument there as I have been bitten only a year ago elsewhere and killed the culprit, it's 4 days on and the bite mark is still inflamed soooo....... not a mosquito.

    Fabulous

The staff here was remarkably friendly, and very accommodating. The outdoor areas were very nice as well. I stayed in one of the giant, multi person dorms, and my stuff was safe, people were respectful, it was more pleasant than I thought it would be. The co-Ed showers were the only thing that had me a little uncomfortable, but it was only one thing. I don’t know if I’d come here again, just because it was clearly more for school trips, but I certainly don’t regret my time already spent here!

Rating of the hotel is decent. My experience was pretty bad. Had a drunk man that was breathing like Darth wader and a couple.that thought they were being discreet and having extremely unsensual sex. Yeah.. that was a bad night.

There wasn’t any wifi in rooms and you have to pay extra for other services like lockers and they were selling these kind of things in reception in 5 times prices. Tue rooms were quite hot, it was not easy to live there.

Extremely disappointed with the hostel. Dorm rooms are too crowded with no natural light inside. Congested and smelly. There are no sockets to charge your phones in dorm rooms. Only in common corridors where you have stand holding your phone. Bathroom facilities were disappointing. Toilets were dirty. Only 2 toilets, 3 showers on a floor of around 50-60 guests.

It was unbearably hot and we left at 3 am because we couldn’t sleep. Staff was rude and not helpful. Mattresses were rubber so they absorbed heat and made it worse. Crying and snoring roommates made it worse. Overall a waste of money do not go.
