Location was incredible, right in the middle of everything (near red Light District, pub crawl starts down the street). The staff was so nice and helpful (shout out to Belushi’s as well). Security was good, needed a key card to get into building and room. There are rooms though that can only be reached by a very steep staircase, I can see that being a problem for less mobile or older travelers. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location, fun bar, found the rooms just a little bit small and couldn’t get into our locker because it was too close to the next bunk.

Everything was wonderful, however, I wish there was a proper reach out to let us know the garden area was closed due to construction. Only disappointment. Something to note, if you get a private room the shower stall is small. My Husband is 6’1” has a large chest, and had to shower with the stall door open.

Hostel was in a great location and the staff were really friendly!! The food in the bar was really good and good craic in the bar. The hostel was currently under construction so we couldn't use the outdoor but id say it will look really cool when finished. The room however was a different story it was very stuffy and i didn't like how you couldn't open a window there was no fan in the bathroom either so there was alway steam. The bathroom with the toilet always smelt and was very small

    Very Good

    14 Jun 2019
Room was extremely hot, there was building work at the hostel during our stay so we did not have access to the outdoor terrace or pool table - which I know I'd not the fault of the hostel per se but it would've been nice to be told about this (the hostel is still advertising these facilities although they are not available). Also note that if you arrive before check-in and want to leave your bags at the hostel you will have to pay for security lockers. Proximity to station and RLD is great.

    Very Good

In general a good hotel , I liked the beds , just as I expected , clean, with some little issues. Staff can definitely be nicer and better trained , I was "welcomed" by an impolite person at around 8 in the morning , unhelpful and limited in english communication. When requested help on the use of lockers I didn't get it. So I went and used the van Gogh museum lockers instead Location is very good but there are better places to stay with grest location too and probably more helpful staff.

When booking we selected 1 room & in that option selected 5 beds. This layout implies the room could hold 5 beds, upon arrival we were told 1 person had to sleep alone in a different room. This was very unclear online & the receptionist was quite rude & patronising, finding it amusing that we could make such a mistake. This made us feel very unwelcome and belittled. The shower was clogged and would fill very quickly. Other than this we were happy with our stay, good atmosphere & building

St Christopher's at The Winston says

One of the things that makes our hostel unique is that we invite various upcoming designers to decorate each of our rooms with weird and interesting themes. None of our rooms look the same, and you could be sleeping in a movie-themed room, a psychedelic room or even a sex-oriented room!

We have a very interesting team here at The Winston, with staff from several countries, in several age-groups. It's a nicely mixed bunch of people.

We have the Red Light District in our backyard and lots of coffee shops, restaurants and crazy little shops are around us. Add to that a bar and a nightclub which are in our building on the ground floor, and you have all the ingredients to have a great time in Amsterdam. If you'd like to relax or see the interesting sights in Amsterdam, most options are on walking distance or a few minutes by tram.
