Property Description

The Bristol Wing is in the lovingly restored historic old police headquarters. Our site was once home to a prison, art studios and a circus troupe. Murals created by Bristol artists remain in the hallways, illustrating the story of the building. Situated next to the bustling shops of Calbot Circus and not far from the trendy art district of Stokes Croft we are a perfect base for your exploration of Bristol. We have some great chill out spaces including our snug, melt into lush velvet sofas, browse the books in our floor to ceiling bookcase, snuggle up and rest those weary legs. Enjoy unlimited wifi, full cooking facilities and if you’re here on a Thursday - join our free shared community meal.

Community is at the heart of what we do here. The Bristol Wing is a social enterprise run by YMCA Bristol. Within the hostel we have a small number of beds available for young people who are at risk of homelessness. Any money we make gets reinvested in the work of the charity, This means that the money you spend with us directly helps to support young people in our city - especially those that have faced tough stuff in life.

The Bristol Wing is owned and managed by YMCA Bristol as a social enterprise - so any profits we make are reinvested in supporting young people who are homeless in the city.

The Bristol Wing is slap bang in the middle of Bristol City Centre. We are a stone’s throw from Bristol Bus Station, 20 minutes’ walk from Temple Meads Railway Station and only meters away from local bus stops. Bristols best shopping is on the door step, whether you want the independent shops of Park Street and Clifton, the big name brands in Cabot Circus or quirky market stalls in St Nicholas's Market, we're with walking distance. Bristol's historic harbour side is only ten minutes’ walk.

Ideally suited to single travellers, couples and families we have a mixture of rooms including dorm rooms, double rooms and family rooms - some with shared bathrooms and some ensuite.

In 9-bed dorms spaces can be quite cramped. I slept in the lower bunk and could not straighten my back when sitting up because there were two more beds above me. But otherwise, everything was fine. Staff were immensely friendly and helpful, and always eager to chat with residents too!

Only stayed here briefly on my way down to Cornwall. But it was a very quirky little hostel. I loved all the subtle decor and the rustic design of the lounge and the kitchen. Very well equipped and right in the heart of the city, great value for money!

The rooms are small but sufficient. The washrooms are only few. About 18 sharing 2 washrooms. Well located, new bathroom fittings, enjoyable lounge. Hope they provide " this bed is occupied" sign for everyone to avoid confusion.

This review is entitled to my preferences only. Plus: - near bus stop - cool concept - Free luggage storage - bed has curtains, charger ports, and lamp Minus: - 3 tier bunk bed, I was in the middle and could not even sit - no mirror in the room - can eat hot food (smelly) in the room - Put your own linen and took it off when check out - only 2 washroom for 4 rooms (my room has 9 people on it), and each washroom is like a hotel room bathroom, so possibly long queue

Toilets were really dirty and there were only two for several rooms so always occupied. At one point both toilets were completely out of paper from 5pm onwards. The rooms weren’t big enough for 9 people so nowhere to put your suitcase or comfortably change etc. I had some really lovely roommates but I also had some extremely strange ones that sometimes seemed as if they perhaps weren’t even meant to be in the room. Almost everyone had problems with their keycards not working at some point.

When I arrived, no one was there at reception. I called the number it asked me to call if there was no one at reception, but, no one answered. I waited about 20 mins before someone eventually came. Then my room booking was mixed up, as I communicated I wanted a double bed, instead got two single beds. The room flooring was very dirty and old. The location was nice as there where shops close by.

I didn't get the value of my money. I had to cancel my staying. Still I didn't get any response from you about back of my my. I sent mail to Bristol wing. I stayed only one day. And Bristol Wing took money for 3days. It's unethical, I think your receptionist isn't transparent, honest. I must have some money back. Still I'm waiting. Please Consider customers side as well.
