Property Description

The Weary Traveler Hostel Tulum was started by backpackers for backpackers back in the year 2000. The hostel was built around what they themselves wanted to find in a good hostel when they were traveling.
A good social vibe, book exchange, bar with backpacker prices, communal Kitchen (loaded with free spices, salt, pepper), full Cook Your Own Breakfast, free Rice, Pasta and lentils for dinner, good Advice on Tours and Activities.

Some aspects of the Weary Traveler Hostel Tulum appear to be unique but they are not. Many of them came from other hostels where we had stayed long before we dreamed of opening a hostel in Tulum. For example the Burn Your Own BBQ was inspired by the Bondi Beach Hotel's incredible steak BBQ setup inside the bar. Huge, beautiful cuts of beef were in a display fridge that was part of the bar. You would say, 'Yeah, give me that one!' and huge chunk of raw red meat came at you on a platter. It is your job to cook it how you wanted it.

We are located in the main village área. We have an incredible kitchen setup that is the envy of many local restaurants but we are close to all shopping, restuarants and transportation centers. Tulum's world famous White sand beaches are 10 minutes away by taxi or 30 minutes by bike on the bike trails.

The staff are really lovely at this hostel, always available to give helpful information or just for a chat. I loved the vibe in the evening, the big table outside is perfect for getting to know each other. Loved the free yoga!! There was a really experienced teacher when I stayed.

Had a really nice stay! Pool was such a plus, especially with the heat. Breakfast was substantial and a buffet. Drinking water provided. Wifi was amazing and reached the rooms. Good A/C at night and fans were provided also. Central location, close to ADO bus stop. Good security; lockers, room key and hostel was locked at night. Staff were friendly and activities made it really sociable and a great atmosphere. Kitchen was smelly: the fridge full of old food and a bit dirty. Bedrooms clean though.

This hostel is situated in a great place in Tulum, about a 5min walk from the ADO bus terminal. Staff are friendly and helped us out with everything, including where to eat, party and sightsee. The bar is great and has some of the cheapest cocktails in town, as well as free bottomless mojitos for an hour in the evening. The bedrooms are fine, not many plugs and the AC is a bit rubbish but does the job. Balcony has a good view also. Pool is a good way to cool down during the day with hammocks

Free drinks for an hour each day and they are super yummy and refreshing 😍😍 best to cool restaurants/ shops etc. Would highly recommend. Beaches and cenotes are only a 30-45 minute bike ride away!

    Very Good

    24 Jul 2019
It was a nice hostel with a swimming pool and free Yoga and Salsa Courses which made my stay great in Tulum. But, there were some down parts about the hostel. -The dorm had no windows, no natural light coming in, which felt weird. -The breakfast has to be cooked by each guest. It is eggs, cereal, pancakes and coffee, so not a great variety and as abundant as they say It’ll be -They ran out of water during my stay which ment a morning without shower or toilet.

Massively oversold in the description to the hostel. Happy hour free drinks is restricted some some massive 5L jug of some unknown substance. Bathroom stank bad of rust/damp and didn't ventilate well so the smell of the toilet lingered. I couldn't walk in there without gagging. The showers also aren't cold, they're Extremely hot. So after you've just cycled 6km from the beach you can't have a cold shower to cool off. Also the bike hire is expensive compared with shops in town.
