Hostelworld says

We like the very central location of Wombats City Hostel Budapest, just a block from Andrássy utca and five minutes from a metro station serving three lines going to Buda, the airport stop and the three main train stations. This friendly, clean hostel opened in 2012 in a former hotel. It features spacious ensuite rooms with free air conditioning, free welcome drinks for guests and a budget-friendly all-you-can-eat breakfast with yoghurt, fruit and good bread.

The staff were very helpful. I had an issue with my power socket and he came straight up to help me sort it out. The 8 bed room was divided in 2 so it felt only like a 4 bed. And there’s was lots of room. Location was so central- lots of amenities near by. Would highly recommend- great value for money

Awesome location. Easy to get to from the airport. Smells horrible but everything else makes up for it. They also don’t wash the comforters. We watched them get beds ready for new guest.... we wish we hadn’t.

Great hostel, very clean and safe with friendly staff. The location on a busy party street makes it quite noisy, but it's not too much of an issue. Some beds are a bit squeaky and the number of toilet/shower in the dorm is a bit limited. But all in all, still a very good hostel where everything seems to run smoothly, which is amazing given its size.

I enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay there again. It’s on a very good location, near to lots of touristic places on a walking distance, bars, clubs, etc. They also offer a lot of activities for everyone, inside and outside of the hostel as well. My room was spacious and clean. The shower was great, however it was a bit noisy and the box was too small, without places to put our stuff. I was told one of the cleaners was noise and impolite while she was trying to sleep. Overall all great.

    Fabulous

Wifi was spotty in the rooms, location was great, but means there's some noise outside the window at night. The single bathroom meant waiting to shower, but we didn't mind. Lobby area was pretty cool, free printing and breakfast was fairly cheap. Our bathroom floor never seemed to be clean, and got slippery. Great value, but that's Budapedt for you. Some old guys around the hostel too, which seemed strange to us, but we didn't mind. All in all, a good hostel, classic wombats.

    Very Good

Love Wombat’s, didn’t really think much of this one. No good common area with warm welcoming feeling, bathroom and entrance smell like sewage, staff was a bit cold, but professional, cleaners not doing a great job. The location on the other hand is peeeeerfect ! Full of cafes, restaurants, bars just on the doorstep but still not noisy at all. Also pretty easy to just walk everywhere. You can easily find better hostels in the area for the same price though, sometimes even cheaper.

Wombats City Hostel Budapest says

I think what's really unique about us is that this was a pretty good hotel before we upgraded it to a Wombats , so it comes with some amenities you don´t typically find in a hostel, like really big rooms, a/c, nice en suite facilities (even with hairdryers) and amply dimensioned common areas. It´s the biggest hostel in town, so guaranteed never boring. And the house is run by a really, really enthusiastic team.
We're one block from Andrassy utca (Budapest's version of the Champs Elysse), the main cathedral is just around the corner and the history city centre is a ten-minute walk away. Walk in the other direction and you're in the middle of the most lively nightlife area. Personally I recommend hitting Corvintetö, a superb rooftop club not far away. The langos shop next to the entrance is ridiculously good (and cheap), too.
Most of our guests are twentysomethings. Budapest offers excellent nightlife and is very cheap, so it attracts a lot of people who intend to indulge in it. Klaus, CFO Wombats
