Summary of traveller reviews

Residencia Universitaria Resa Blas De Otero in Bilbao offers friendly and helpful staff, with rooms providing basic amenities and some featuring kitchenettes. Its central location is convenient for exploring the city, though the surrounding neighbourhood is frequently described as rough and noisy, with some guests noting issues with room condition not matching photos and small shower spaces. This property suits travellers looking for value and a central base, particularly students and young people.

The residence is huge but looks quite empty. It’s good value for money; the room is clean, but the private bathroom is not comfortable, and it’s dark and dull, a bit more deteriorated than I expected. Not like the one shown in the main photos. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The real disadvantage is the location. It’s very close to the metro station and to the city centre and old town, but in a very rundown area, in a hostile environment. There are suspicious people all around.

We stayed at the property despite negative reviews. Room was basic and at the time of a heat wave, there was no ventilation or air conditioning, as crowds were selling goods illegally outside. A frightening police raid took place, and drugs were found on the window shelf. Due to a lack of privacy and security, we moved to a hotel near the airport. The property is not recommended.
