Situated just one street away from the Great Ocean Road, this environmentally friendly hostel features a rooftop terrace, 2 self-catering communal kitchens, BBQ facilities and an organic herb garden.

YHA Apollo Bay Eco is a 2-minute walk from restaurants and cafes in Apollo Bay town centre. It is a 45-minute drive to Cape Otway Lighthouse and a 90-minute drive to the Twelve Apostles.

Guests have access to shared dining areas, communal living areas and recently refurbished bathrooms. Free on-site parking is provided.

A variety of accommodation is available, all offer shared bathroom facilities, heating, individual lockers (in shared rooms) and bed lights.

I stayed for 1 nights in a private room. The location is great, just 2 blocks from the main street. The staff was not always there but they were nice and very accommodative. I had a late check-in but I got an email with all the instructions to have a self check-in, all very clear. I went to Appollo bay to run a race in the running festival in May and I appreciated that the staff allowed me to take a shower after checkout

Lovely building and warm inside at night. Great community areas and kitchen was big and open with plenty of seating. Close to the main street and all eating places plus close to the water for early morning walks. Such an easy stay and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

The picturesque village of Apollo Bay quietly and impressively sits just over 2 hours southwest of one of Australia’s most loved cities, Melbourne. For backpackers who want to explore The Great Ocean Road, Apollo Bay is indeed worthy of a visit. Spend days exploring the Otway Ranges, beach hopping, trying local delicacies and admiring the gorgeous sceneries.

Choose between a couple of Apollo Bay hostels that are located around the village centre, allowing great access to exploring the village via foot. You’ll find an Apollo Bay hostel which is ECO certified located along the Great Ocean Road. It boasts excellent facilities like a sunny roof terrace kitted out with a BBQ for those warm, summer nights. Or how about a surfer’s paradise with direct beach access and buzzing social areas with pool tables?

Apollo Bay backpackers with a love for the great outdoors can unwind and relax among nature in the rainforests of the Otway Ranges.
