Summary of traveller reviews

St Christopher's Paris - Canal offers a friendly atmosphere and helpful staff, with comfortable beds and good security. While located a bit further from central attractions, it's well-connected by metro. Some recent guests noted rooms can be very warm, and a few mentioned issues with cleanliness in bathrooms.

it was really bad there was this weird really weird guy just staring at people entering the room then when I looked through my car and he kept staring, he was basically getting undressed when there’s a bathroom not even 30 seconds walking away I got a room changed. The staff were very helpful. I was supposed to stay in a four person room, but I switched to an eight person which is fine apart from the crazy alarms at five in the morning, wouldn’t stay again though.

I stayed at St. Christophers for four nights. The bed's themselves were comfortable. The luggage storage are those rolling cages that you pull out from under the bed. I was in room 101 in bed K (top bunk) and my cage didn't have the spring mechanism to prop it open, so I had to keep resting the door of my cage on the bottom person's bunk (bed L) which was a little annoying for them I imagine. Meanwhile the L cage still had the springs on so they need to switch the stickers to make it convenient.

Staff were friendly but slow. I always had to wait longer than I thought I should at reception. The 6-person dorm I was in had a broken window handle and my bed was creaky (just me in it lol). The men's bathroom was often being cleaned, but visitors should be encouraged to keep it clean. Generally, a culture of respect seemed lacking among guests.

Hostelworld says

Hostelworld users rated St Christopher's Paris the most popular Paris hostel at the 2011 Hoscars, and it's not hard to see why. We like that each of their beds has an under-bed locker, privacy curtains, a reading light, and two power outlets. This hostel contains a bar and club, with discounts on drinks and what visitors assure us is "good-value, yummy food." Our guests have said this hostel has a "good atmosphere downstairs and always [has] heaps of people around," "perfect for people that want to have some fun."
