Basic but does the job. Not much to do in Sandkan (recommend staying in Sepilok, I was only here for a day post the river cruise), but location was good for restaurants by the jetty. Breakfast starts early so got to have some before I left. Staff lovely.

hostel had a fun relaxed vibe and nice rooftop terrace to chill and see the sea. room had AC and was comfortable. the bathrooms could have been cleaner

The bedrooms were clean and the AC worked well. The hammocks on the roof were amazing and the location was ideal! The staff were very friendly! The only downside was the bathrooms were a bit run down, but we could make do.
