Honestly don’t understand the bad reviews. It’s a less social hostel, but there is still plenty of space so socialise if you wanted! Roof top, social space, gym area too. Everything is clean, a few ants but who cares. Free tea, coffee and toast! We enjoyed it

Not sure why the ratings are so low on here. The dorms do have curtains even though the pictures show that they don’t, there was free toast for breakfast, free drinking water, a towel provided and a nice rooftop to relax on. It was quite busy during peak season and I felt safe the whole time as a female solo traveller. The staff are also helpful and friendly.

Didn’t feel particularly safe here as a solo female traveller, was the only one in the dorm for a few nights and just a weird hostel vibe. Wouldn’t particularly recommend Sandakan overall but if I were to I would say do a day trip from Sepilok!
