Nha Trang in southern Vietnam has gained a reputation as the Riviera of the South China Sea, with its long stretch of golden sandy beaches. Tropical islands lie in the clear waters off the coast, while the hills just inland have tranquil walking trails and majestic Buddhist temples to explore. With a range of nightlife from glamorous rooftop bars to relaxed backpacker pubs, Nha Trang is also known for its lively party scene.

You'll even find a Nha Trang hostel with an outdoor cinema or gym. There are plenty of party hostels in Nha Trang with on-site bars hosting nightly happy hours, and a few have in-house DJs to soundtrack your trip. Most hostels are inside modern buildings – usually with elevators, Wi-Fi and air con.
Downtown Nha Trang is home to the city's cultural attractions like Dam Market and the Long Son Pagoda. It's easy to walk around the pedestrian-friendly streets, and as it's a more local area you'll find plenty of street food bargains. If you're looking for sun, fun and nightlife, head to Tran Phu Beach. The gorgeous promenade is lined with bustling bars and seafood restaurants – you can try your hand at water sports here too.
The four-storey Dam Market is the place to pick up clothes, souvenirs and tasty street food – or just snap some photos of the colourful stalls. For a break from salt water, head along the coast road to Ba Ho Waterfall (a 40-minute drive from the city). The three waterfalls are surrounded by rainforest and make for a refreshing dip. Another day trip is Hòn Tre Island, which you can reach using a cable car from Nha Trang. The island has idyllic tropical beaches as well as the Vinpearl Land amusement park.
Cam Ranh International Airport is about 47 minutes away by car from Nha Trang. You can either get a taxi from the arrivals hall – these have fixed fares – or hop on the number 18 shuttle bus to Đất Mới bus station. If you're coming by coach, you'll arrive at Bến xe phía Nam Nha Trang station, a short taxi ride from the centre of town. For train travellers, Nha Trang Railway Station is a short walk from the city centre. Getting around Nha Trang is easy using the public buses or handy motorcycle taxis.
