About

The Costeño Beach Hostel is a paradise nestled between a stunning beach on Colombia's Caribbean coast and the lush jungle, once an old coconut farm. Its prime location is just a one-hour drive from the charming colonial city of Santa Marta and 5 km away from the world-renowned Tayrona National Park.

This magical hostel is owned by two Canadian brothers who fell in love with the beauty of this Colombian area almost a decade ago. Captivated by the location, the local people, and the culture, they decided to create a unique experience for travelers from all around the globe, allowing them to share in the wonders of this place.

I didn't have a great stay. The private room wasn't very clean on arrival (a left over coke bottle and cigarettes on the bed side table) and quite a lot of sand on the floor. The room was then not cleaned at all during our stay. The room was very hot and the only respite was a fan in the bed. The front desk and Andreas were nice. I was unwell with food poisoning while there (having eaten the food there but can't be 100% sure). I was given some a 50% refund for the nights I didn't stay.

This place was a whole vibe; I really enjoyed my stay and continued to extend. Right on the beach, good food options, lively and fun with events like karaoke night and dance classes. The rooms don't feel like they're full since they're open with a lot of space. I've stayed in 6 person rooms which felt alot more cramped. Pool was also really nice (just wish it didn't close at 8!)

The staff here were super friendly and helpful. It’s resort vibes, very hard to meet people as a solo backpacker. Wouldn’t recommend this place if you want to relax necessarily, there’s super loud music basically all day and night. There was also karaoke one night that went til quite late and could be heard clearly in the dorms
