Stunning views are plentiful and nature lovers are in their element with beaches, hikes, gardens, nature reserves and tidal pools. Cape Town has even more to offer, with lively neighbourhoods, a thriving creative scene and so much history.

There’s a huge choice of high quality hostels in Cape Town. You will find hostels with common areas and balconies that overlook the mountains, swimming pools, delicious breakfasts and so much style! The city welcomes backpackers and the Cape Town hostels are full of travellers from all around the world, so it’s easy to make new friends and maybe explore the city together.

Cape Town’s hostels are located in the city centre, around the gardens, and in adjoining neighbourhoods. The more central locations offer the liveliest social scene, but another good option is Green Point, a central suburb between Signal Hill and the ocean, where you’ll enjoy incredible views. The hostels in the Observatory neighbourhood are perfect for those looking for a more bohemian location, with many stylish coffee shops, clubs and restaurants.

Finding things to do in Cape Town won’t be a problem, especially if you love nature. Climb Table Mountain and Lion’s Head for amazing views, walk along the coast visiting the many small beaches, enjoy the upbeat vibes of Long Street and get to know the country’s history in the South African Museum and Robben Island – where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated. Cape Town’s airport receives flights from all around the world and it’s the main way of getting to the city. Renting a car is the best option for getting around the city, especially if you are planning to explore further, visiting the vineyards and beaches, or even an amazing South African road trip. Taxis are not that cheap and the public transport is affordable but not widely accessible. Many of the best hostels in Cape Town offer bus tours and various exploring options, which doubles up as a great way to meet your fellow travellers.
