Welcome to Maka Hostel! 🤗

Located in the heart of Oaxaca, Maka is a social hub for travelers who want to meet new people, explore the city and have a good time without sacrificing a great night’s sleep.

We’ve replaced shaky bunk beds with sturdy concrete beds — no more shaking when someone gets in or out of bed! Each bed also has its own individual ventilator, so you can stay cool and comfortable after a full day of exploring. 💤

Start your morning with a coffee, meet fellow travelers and get ready to discover Oaxaca. We also offer a homemade breakfast if you want to start your day with something tasty before heading out. We’re perfectly located for exploring the city on foot, from local markets and street food to museums, plazas, mezcalerías and the historic center. Oaxaca is Mexico’s food and mezcal capital, so there’s always something new to try! 🌮🌵

Want to explore beyond the city? We can help you discover more of Oaxaca through affordable trips and local experiences, including Hierve el Agua, Monte Albán, food tours and more. Our team is always happy to share recommendations and help you make the most of your time here.

Back at the hostel, cool off in our rooftop pool, relax in the sun, grab a drink at the bar or hang out in our common areas. Join our 6–7 PM Happy Hour, meet other travelers and get ready for the evening. 🍻

We have activities throughout the week, with some completely free and others available for an additional cost. Stay at the hostel and join a salsa class, trivia night or karaoke, or come explore Oaxaca with us on a food tour, a trip to Hierve el Agua or other local adventures. There’s always something happening, whether you want to meet fellow travelers, discover Oaxaca or simply have a good time. 💃🎤

After a full day, enjoy our high-pressure warm showers and comfortable beds. Maka is social and lively, but we also care about creating a comfortable place where you can recharge and get a good night’s sleep.

* Late arrival: Checking in after 10 PM? Use our easy self-check-in system (check your email for details).
* Good to know: 18+ only, cash-only (ATMs nearby).
* Flexible: Free cancellation up to 48 hours before arrival.
* Free luggage storage: Leave your bags with us before check-in or after check-out.
