Ancestral Hostel Barranco in Lima offers a great location and friendly staff, with comfortable beds and clean rooms. Some guests noted noise from the adjacent restaurant and occasional issues with hot water. It's well-suited for travellers seeking a central base.

Overall a decent stay. Best part was the location, it’s super central and close to everything you need in Barranco. Friendly staff, only downside is the room was exceptionally hot my first night, it was cooler the second night but I stayed in July when it’s supposedly winter so I can’t even imagine summer. Also the shower was funny, water temperature didn’t really work.

pictures on hostelworld look very nice… when you are there, there is only 1 shower with hot water, and rooms were very hot and smelly. and staff was either a little standoffish or not very knowledgeable about things in the hostel. we asked for a fan in the room and a staff member said there was one, but it was an ac unit that only was able to blow hot air during the “winter,” (we were there in july which is winter for southern hemisphere). hostel felt more like a coworking space.

Great experience at Ancesteral Barranco. Booked a private room available at 1pm; clean and spacious. Staff was friendly and welcoming, and location was central to many sites in Lima. Great for young travelers.
