I would recommend ancestral hostel to travelers looking for a quiet and calm place to stay very conveniently located in barranco by the ocean and art galleries. The high ceilings in each room really help make this place feel comfortable. Angie, one of the staff members, was very kind as well. It can get hot at night and the jazz music from the restaurant downstairs sometimes can be heard from rooms. Overall, would recommend.

Overall it was a decent stay. The dorm room I was in (female only) was right on a busy street, which made sleeping very difficult, even with ear plugs. There is very little security, no locks on the doors, and male maintenance people would walk into the room unannounced. But I never had any major issues. The WiFi only works in the common room, not the bedrooms or the kitchen. The place was clean - there was staff always cleaning!

Had a wonderful stay here! Atmosphere was great, with a big artistic and vintage vibe. The shared kitchen area and showers were very clean. Very delicious and lively restaurant below, we were serenaded by saxophone each night. Highly recommend!
