Surf & Retreat Hostel Weligama is a proudly 100% locally owned and run hostel in Weligama, South Sri Lanka — built by people from Weligama, for travellers who want to actually experience it, not just pass through it. No foreign chain, no copy-paste hostel formula — just a local team sharing their own coastline, their own contacts, and their own community with you.

We are not a party hostel — we're a community hostel. Instead of hosting loud nights ourselves, we team up daily with other trusted hostels and local partners so our guests can join yoga sessions, community dinners, group surf sessions, skate sessions and fitness classes together. Our vision is to help build the local Weligama community's income and give local children greater access to education — through surf and surf-skate — while pushing South Sri Lanka's surf culture to the next level.

We believe surf tourism should give back to the people who made this coastline what it is. Every guest who stays, surfs, skates or trains with us helps fund surf and skate lessons for local kids, supports basic education needs for low-income families, and keeps opportunity flowing through the community that built this hostel. We're not just building a business here — we're building a future generation of Sri Lankan surfers, skaters and a stronger, more self-sufficient south coast.
